After winning two consecutive talent shows on Marquette's campus a reporter from the Marquette Tribune sits down with Stu to get some inside information about the band. SWB performed under the name 'Washpool' at this time. - Marquette Tribune
Studio Z used to be one of the biggest recording studios in Milwaukee, and the Stuart Winter Band, formerly known as "Washpool", recorded a track there back in 2007. Brad, the owner of the studio, submitted our band to the magazine as being the best band he had worked with during that time. The link to the article is attached. You can find "Washpool" listed on page 48. During this time, we were on our last stint of recording before going back to the books at our various colleges. - ProSoundNews

Bio
WHAT SETS US APART?!?! The five mates basically grew up together playing music. They're not your typical high school generated garage band. They are all professionally trained musicians and vocalists. Their draw is not limited to their musical savvy, however. Three of the five are or have been models or actors, so they have the physical makeup and stage presence going for them that most groups lack, a critical part of success in the industry. Similar to the lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars, this band consists of model/actors who happen to prefer the rock stage and a mic. Finally, like the British rockers of Coldplay, all five have graduated from or are currently attending Universities and have had a great deal of experience playing for those types of venues. THE SUM-UP - Five talented & attractive musicians & vocalist with a unique sound, years of entertainment/camera experience, and crazy awesome fans.
BAND TIMELINE: Stu started the band in 1999 as a Freshman in high school. As members came and went, his frontman experience grew exponentially. Upon entering college at Marquette University, he and his brother, Mitch, met the other two current members, Dave & Ehan, and by 2006 they recorded the band's first demo/album, "half way There" under the band name "Washpool". After distribution, Washpool was offered several opportunities with various labels in Nashville and had a connection with Disney in LA. However, the four decided to finish college and play the local circuit while in school. The band then took a more serious direction in 2010 deciding that they would change their name to the "Stuart Winter Band", add Wendy Winter (the 5th), begin building a studio, record an album, and begin booking a local tour. This brings us to today: two single releases - "War" and "Greater" - in preparation for their album, "WAR", scheduled to come out in the summer of 2012.
INFLUENCES: Our influences range from the Punk rockers of Paramore, lead by Hally's power vocals (mirrored in SWB's Wendy Winter), to Coldplay's Chris Martin (often compared to SWB's frontman, Stuart Winter). Then there's their "Edge-like" guitar player, Mitchell Winter, who is a phenomenal lead guitarist with the likes of U2, and the Killers. SWB's time is kept by David Cassel who is as skilled as any jazz drummer, and their low tones are maintained by Ehan's smooth and steady grooves. Needless to say, they are a stacked brother-sister band. In fact, the drummer and bass player are half-brothers, with similar musical influences, all coming together to create a modern new sound that is unique. Stu writes all of the music and says that his primary influences over the last 13 years have been Coldplay, Delirious (Christian UK Band), U2, Eminem, and 30 Seconds to Mars.
OUR STORY & EXPERIENCE: From church platforms, to secular stages, from talent shows, to band battles, from benefit concerts, to dances, from acoustic sessions, to TV spots. Stuart Winter Band has performed before thousands of people in all types of environment and venues. Some of the highlights would include being the headlining opener for christian hit band, FFH. Being invited to open for Switchfoot at the Rave. Doing a TV spot for Marquette University TV. Winning virtually every battle and talent show they've entered. The list goes on. Their experience over time has translated into a solid and faithful fan base that continues to grow, especially with their new project, "WAR".
Their goal is to one day turn in their 2 week's notices to their respective workplaces, and go on the road. You could call it a calling, or destiny. Whatever the case, it's only a matter of time.
