Streets of Fire is making my impromptu day off really interesting. I’m getting little bits of Adam Lazarra in the vocals, (a little Sting and Jack Johnson too), just enough to keep my interest without turning me off. Being a big fan of Taking Back Sunday’s ‘Tell All Your Friends’, I hate rip offs, but Streets of Fire has their own brand of originality. They definitely have a secure hold on pop edged modern rock. All the good stuff, none of the fluffy bullshit.
Streets of Fire is another example of excellent songwriting, (they’re eclectic and all over the place without being chaotic), and a singer with a voice that keeps you interested the whole way through. Often times a bland singer can kill an awesome band: just look at Further Seems Forever’s third album, but these guys have a killer lineup. I’m loving their tones across the board. My hats off to their engineer, sounds like he/she really captured their sound. You want to listen to Streets of Fire. - Listening In
Streets Of Fire
Some bands feel they need gimmicks and cheesy choreography to mask the fact that their songs might not be that great. Not Streets Of Fire. What makes this band so hot? Their ability to take pieces of their pop-punk past and mix it with sounds of alternative ‘90s rock. Guitarist-singer Rocky Cantanese and lead guitarist Michael Drew have taken experiences from their earlier days in the scene in bands like Kick Over The Traces and The Showcase to create music showing how their writing style has evolved over the years. The New Brunswick-based band has been making a name for itself in the local scene, releasing their second EP, The Proposal, a follow up to 2008’s The Ghost, in November. You can catch them at Soundwaves Academy in Union and be a part of their live DVD filming on Feb. 19.

Bio
Streets of Fire is a collaboration by musicians who have come together through both ordinary and completely random circumstances with the intent to show that while digital music is the new frontier, genuine rock music can still be as creative as ever. Over the years each member has acquired unique skills which they bring about through the identity of the music. The DeMaio brothers, Steve (drums) and Joey (bass), add tight syncopated rhythms accompanied by Mike Drew's intricate yet complimentary and colorful guitar leads, followed by vocalist Joe Capone's soulful tone. “RUN”, Streets of Fire’s self-produced and self-recorded EP, shows exactly who this group of eclectic musicians are by showcasing songs influenced by everything from the 90's rock radio hits they grew up on to the Motown era hits found in their parents' record collections. Future plans include east coast/midwest touring, filming some new videos for your enjoyment, and of course, more music!
