Bio
Living in Massachusetts but originally from St. Louis, Steve grew up with the sounds of blues, soul, rock and country all around him. Although well-versed in traditional blues, Steve was never a traditionalist, and grew weary of the same ol' blues-rock that seems to be the output of many blues-based bands.
While it's fun to rock the house, there are many other directions that the blues can take. Steve decided to take a road less-travelled, and began to write songs that reflected his take on the blues, which means he has bent and shaped the form to his uses, often abandoning the 12 bar format and using more advanced chords and song structures that one seldom finds in blues. Or rock. The result is undeniably blues, but at the same time, not the "same old blues."
The horns give many of the tunes a jazzy overtone, while the vocal harmonies drench their sound in a solid R&B vibe. There is plenty of guitar too, but the Kingfish sound is unlike the typical blues-rock outfit. Jazzy and rocking...You're gonna want to dance...
