Bio
STELLA JEAN grew up in Codrington, a small farming community in Eastern Ontario. For the past 10 years, Stella has been writing songs, performing and teaching music in countries such as Bolivia, France, Germany, U.S.A. and China. Currently, Stella writes, performs and teaches music in Toronto, Ontario. Stella Jean's diverse musical projects and awards are as follows:
• Chosen to perform at the Songwriting Session Showcase with Juno Artist Tomi Swick, and V.P. of Warner Music Ron Lopata (Music City Toronto, Apr. '12)
• Performed at Canadian Music Fest (Music City Toronto, Mar '12)
• Selected song, "High School Horror Show", for radio airplay (Gutterbird, Toronto, Nov '11)
• Recorded an original EP entitled "Plastic Trees in the City" (The Fusebox, Recorded and Mixed by Adam King, Toronto, Aug '11)
• Formed the Stella Jean Band with drummer Jarrod Hewton, bassist Andrew Saskin, guitarist Jeremy Taft, singer and keyboardist Stella Jean, and guest trumpeter Mike Field (Codrington & Toronto, Jan '11)
• Performed at Massey Hall with selected Canadian musicians (SOS Children’s Villages, Toronto, Nov '10)
• Won a Music Grant from the Government of France for the cs field trio project (Festival International de Musique Universitaire, France, July '08)
• Toured Germany as the beat-boxer, percussionist and singer of the cs field trio (Indep., Germany, July '07 – Aug '07)
• Participated in the Creative-Writer-In-Residence Program (Naropa University, USA, July '07)
• Co-composed, recorded and released the cs field trio’s Debut Album "Grandma in Generation Myspace" (Indep., Toronto, Sept '07)
Stella has recorded in the studios of Adam King (Good Lovelies), Bob Egan (Blue Rodeo, Wilco), and Mark Pellizzer (Justin Nozuka).
