Scandinavia has recently developed its own electronic underground dance genre. It is called skweee and is an odd distortion of British bass music and electro funk, typically performed on outdated computer equipment.
Mr. Sprutbass, Eivind Henjum, claims that he and the people from the Dødpop label have created skweee 2.0 – a special variant of the sound from Norway.
Look forward to some morbid electronics – of fierce, freaky and genre-founding kind.

The winning sounds of "Sprutbass Theme," the lead track from Norweigan skweee producer Sprutbass' recently released self-titled EP for Dødpop, evoke the soul of purple dubstep thanks to the wailing video game synths, punchy basslines, and all-around lively vibes. We're treated to this freebie along with a video for "Norsk Dans," another song featured on the record. Academy Award-nominated director Karl Erik Brøndbo and cinematographer Solfrid Kjetså directed the slick piece, which features Sprutbass dropping dishes, an adorable blonde child who is ultimately covered in black face paint, and various organic plant and aquatic textures. Over the course of the last four years, Norwegian Sprutbass, or Eivind Henjum if
you want to call him by his birth name, has gained major attention on the international
music circuit with his analog synth-based Electro Funk. Sprutbass made
his debut on Ddpop in 2008 with the critically acclaimed 7 Ulykke and has since
then released music on Finnish Harmnia and UK record label Ninja Tune.
Critics have described his music as the best synth work since the Beverly Hills
Cop soundtrack and Friday night at EDMXs place. Nevertheless, Henjum made
a claim as to why he deserves the amount of buzz he receives when he set a new
record for attendance and created a mosh pit at the Apollo stage at this years
Roskilde Festival.
Over the last few of months, Sprutbass has been touring solidly overseas and filling
up dance floors in Paris, New York, Barcelona and Berlin. When not on tour,
the Oslo-based talent has been working extensively in the studio with Space Disco
pioneer Prins Thomas, a journey that has resulted in the new Sprutbass EP.
