SOUSE is the combined effort of eight Cincinnati, Ohio musicians, forging a new sound and altering the direction of jazz-funk.
The music of SOUSE is a blend of infectious melodies, layered rhythms and open improvisational passages. While most of the material is original, SOUSE pays homage to their influences with original arrangements of compositions by Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Billy Cobham and others.
Twice nominated for a Cincinnati Entertainment Award in the “Best Jam Band” category, SOUSE is a merger of the key members of noted regional funk-fusion and jam acts Final Exit, Medulla Gumbo, Travelin’ Barefoot, Baoku & The Image Afrobeat Band and Sole Taxi. These gifted musicians and composers have been active in the Cincinnati area jazz and jam band scene for the past decade.
