Bio
SoundSmith formed in late 2012 and has been rocking and rolling ever since.
The Lineup
Starting with James High's unique, energetic vocals and melodic drive and David Thompson's unmatched combination of guitar shredding and delicate melodies, the two self-taught guitarists soon added drummer Phil Pleckham, 12-year technical percussion expert and drum corp alum. Finally newcomer April Gleason, a self-taught melodic bass guitar prodigy joined in February 2013 and the lineup has remained.
The Sound
SoundSmith draws influence from bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Queens of the Stone Age, Silverchair, and Radiohead. Their unique sound, varies from layers of delicate melodies, poly-rhythms, and ambient noise to heavy, unique chords and lightly progressive choices, to upbeat tempo and catchy licks -- sometimes all within one song.
Performances
The quad has headlined venues including The Elbo Room, Silvie's Lounge, Lock, Stock, and Barrel, Ottos, Pronto's, Millikin University, and more. SoundSmith frequently makes their home at The House Cafe (DeKalb) where their fans eagerly fill the crowd knowing a memorable performance always ensues.
Recording & Radio
SoundSmith's first EP, At First Sight, is available online through ReverbNation. Their song, Know the Stars, has been featured on 103.9 The Fox and debut EP and in-studio interview premiered on NorthCentral's college radio station in late 2013 and continues to be played. The band is currently working with Biscuit Productions to record and release a second EP in the upcoming months.

SoundSmith maintains a high social media presence through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, ReverbNation, and SoundCloud. They are currently ranked the #1 Alternative Rock Band in Dekalb on ReverbNation. In five weeks they became the #7 most-watched band of 5100+ bands/artists in The Get Out of the Garage 2013 online contest, ending with over 5000 video views.
SoundSmith is currently working on a second, more mature EP, booking a small Midwest College tour, and relocating to Chicago. Eventually SoundSmith plans to go on a national tour, create an incredible first record, and live off of their original music.
