Bio
Wayne, Pennsylvania’s Ari Leff, the main man behind Somersault Sunday, began writing music at an early age. At age 12, he started his first rock duo with his best friend Mike Wagenheim, and by age 13, the two teens started a metal band. Then, after dipping his toes into the art of writing music, Ari began experimenting with an acoustic guitar and some synth sounds. A few months later, he wrote his own solo acoustic song called "Parting Ways." That song was the beginning of Ari’s first long-lasting musical endeavor; on the night of April 28th, 2008, Somersault Sunday was born. "It all started as a side project, just for fun," Ari claims, but after receiving such an enthusiastic online response, he began writing solo music full-time.
While some of Somersault Sunday’s songs feature an acoustic-organic sound, others combine intricate electronics with catchy, upbeat melodies. As a result of this musical variation, Somersault Sunday is one of the most versatile artists on the scene. On top of that, Ari's lyrics reflect a deeper personal reaction to the world than the average artist. With songs such as "Fake" and "Wasted Time," Somersault Sunday is the one-man rescue team when you’re drowning in a sea of cliché love songs. However, when it came to live shows, Ari knew he needed a band to ensure a genuinely energetic experience. Complete, with a colorful light show, the band of close friends takes over any stage with a passionate and powerful performance.
Whether it be promoting online and at shows, practicing with the live band, or sharpening his writing skills, Ari is always working hard to improve Somersault Sunday. Even at his young age, Ari is doing everything that he can do to climb to the top of the music scene. It is his hope that someday his hard work will grant him the opportunity to live his dream of being a popular and successful artist.
