This is a quote from Peter Quinn of Dark Dreams, the mp3unsigned.com Artist of the Week (August 16, 2007):
"I'd like to take this opportunity to showcase Smudgie, an Indie outfit from Canada. The music features the sweet sound of female vocalist...Smudge...This combined with powerfully bleak melodies and deep, meaninful lyrics tend to leave a lasting impression on the listener.
My personal favourite tracks are Something About You and Walk Away. Other great tunes include Unintentionally and Ghosts in Chains, plus a brand new track called You Me. Any lover of great music would be crazy to ignore this band, intentionally or otherwise!" - mp3unsigned.com
Dave Rave, Summer Contest Winner of 2005 on mp3unsigned.com, commented on Smudgie (June 4 2006):
Two of my favuorite words: Bloody superb. What a fantastic and distinctive voice you have Smudgie!! A great band all-round. A worthy chart nomination from me. - mp3unsigned.com

Bio
Smudgie is a singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada who decided to turn to music after getting a Ph.D. in economics.
After listening to just one song, ("Lost My Destination"), Jim Vallance, one of the top songwriters of our time, (Bryan Adams, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne), told Smudgie shes got the makings of a hit songwriter.
Smudgie is the winner of several songwriting awards including Best Alternative Song at the Exposure Music Awards in the UK, and Best Song (Walk Away) on the indie music website mp3unsigned.com. She was also voted Best Band on mp3unsigned.com out of thousands of entries from all over the world.
Her songs have also been on regular Internet radio rotation since shes started writing and have been placed in an LA-based web drama series. Theyve been played in coffee houses across the U.S. and her Feel Like This video landed her a nomination for Best International Video at the UKs Exposure Music Awards.
Even though she's only been writing for a short time, Smudgie already has a U.S. placement deal under her belt for all the songs on her first album entitled "Smudgie". She continues to work on her second studio album with Attitude Productions.
