DOWNTOWN LA — There are few times when we are as impressed as we were at 5 Star Bar in downtown LA last weekend.

The 5 Star Bar makes it a new experience to meet cool people of all ages, listen to fun music and enjoy a beer in a can.

The lineup for the first annual Psych Fest, also known as Mind Gasm, included The Smoky Knights, Them Guns, The Honest Thieves and Camcorder. See video for The Honest Thieves here.

Downtown LA has come a long way, while some say it has a long way to go.

But in the meantime, fun bars like this will hold the attention of a diverse group of pool-players, up-and-coming rock stars, aspiring artists and everyone in between.

Blending dulcet harmonies with an infectious smattering of alternative goodness, Smoky Knights may still feel a little on the raw side but these choruses offer up bags of potential.

“Sooner or Later” is the title track taken from their third EP, blending infectious guitar riffs and subtle pop hooks with an intriguing air of indie-rock. The band’s latest offering serves up something a little unique, with a bridge that’s sure to catch your attention (well, it did ours).

The EP itself was mixed by Nicolas Essig, who is well known for his credits with Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, and more – which stands them in good stead really, doesn’t it?

FIVE OF FIVE MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES “SMOKY KNIGHTS”
AS WINNER OF THEIR “ARTIST-OF-THE-YEAR” TALENT SEARCH
Nov. 17th, 2016 - (Los Angeles) - Five of Five Music Entertainment (VVME), thestudent-run, faculty-advised record label at CSU Northridge has chosen psychedelic indierock quartet, Smoky Knights, as their “Artist-of-the-Year”. VVME will work withSmoky Knights over the next five months to record an EP as well as help build theartist’s name, reputation, and fan base.
Each year, VVME selects an artist to work with over the course of the academic year. In
helping the artist take the next step in their career, students in VVME gain valuable, realworld
experience. Last Monday, three selected finalists were showcased at VVME’s
premier event, “The Pitch.” The selection of the Artist-of-the Year was based on careful
consideration of the artists’ performances as well as their songwriting, musicianship,
marketability, and overall professionalism. VVME will begin recording Smoky Knights’
new music in December/January and will host various events throughout Spring 2017
featuring the band.
