"That was a great set at The Horseshoe. Drawing from a sonic lineage that weaves through Television and The Strokes, angular riffs, simmering energy, and brooding vocals make for a colourful brew of post-punk inflected rock." -Lonely Vagabond - Myspace

Bio
Slightly Left is slightly left of melodic rock, slightly left of safe, slightly left of mainstream. The Brantford, Ontario foursome creates a cool, ragged garage rock sound with spurts of pop guitar.
Its debut six-song EP, Mine Is, ranges from the furious “Verbose” about various “end of the world” pop culture prophesies to the angular pop song “Who Is You” about that mystery pronoun. Vocalist-guitarist and main songwriter Nick Thorpe, 21; his brother, guitarist Jamie Thorpe, 23; drummer James Grier, 20; and bassist Andrew Gavloski, 21, self-produced the EP at Hamilton, Ontario’s Catherine North Studios. Together, they bash out a unique indie rock sound, purposely keeping it accessible by adding more melodicism to the guitar and vocal lines. Think of some New York City cross-generational jam featuring the Ramones and The Strokes. The goal-oriented band rehearses four nights a week and the members spend hours on the Internet, emailing “everyone in the world” to get bookings. So far, it has paid off, landing them gigs all over Ontario and New York with many more cities to come.
