It is almost 70 degrees in Seattle today. Spring is here, Summer is on it's way. How wonderful that I was turned on to this perfect warm weather music by Ben, the guitar player and lead vocalist of Sleepless. Sleepless play PERFECT Summer music! Pure and simple. Think of On The Might Of Princes. Think of The Casket Lottery. I don't really have much more to say. They are from Canada, I love them. You should too. Boundless Post-Hardcore with a heavy ROCK backbone. Every song is good, 'Anchored' is my favorite. The lyrics are poetic and personal. There might be some political undertones, though, it is up to you to decipher that for yourselves. I wish I could wax philosophic about how great this EP is to me. I won't. I can't. Hailing from Ontario, Canada, alternative hard rock trio Sleepless has been described as "boundless post-hardcore with a heavy rock backbone." - Harboring Ghosts Blogspot. PureGrain Audio states they are, ..running the gamut from slow melodic tunes to harder, edgier, punkier tunes.. While being described as a mash of Sparta, The Casket Lottery, and Hot Water Music, Sleepless brings an eclectic sound and presence to the stage. These three artists have blended their musical personalities to form an energetic and passionate sound.
Lead singer/guitarist Ben Scriver's vocals range from an aggressive in your face attack, to a soft harmonious line. "The contrast of calm vocals and soul-felt screams have the potential to bring one to tears, as the delicate melodies hypnotize the mind." - Velvet Rope Magazine. Ben also fronts the band on guitar with gripping lead lines and a massive guitar sound. Veteran bassist/vocalist Cameron Zwicker drives the bottom end of the band with straight ahead bass riffs combined with melodic elements of jazz and emo. Drummer Nathan Dale is the rhythmic force behind it all, combining complex rhythms and time signatures with straight ahead explosive rock. Recorded at Epik Productions in Toronto, Ontario with producer and long time friend, Stephen Kerr, their debut release, Unsteady Hands, has been grabbing the attention of radio and online listeners at home and abroad. What Sleepless has written here is not just a brilliant EP, its an incredibly harsh taunt, and I imagine would translate brilliantly to a live show. - TopHat Magazine
With their new EP fresh off the presses, and a two week east coast tour (CA), under their belts, Sleepless doesn't plan to rest any time soon.
