Skope: What does it mean to be included in A2W on Skopeing.com?
Sky K: I think it’s a great way of promoting yourself and getting your name out there. Not everyone has the opportunity to have a spot in this type of element, especially one with such a wide fan base. To be included to me means, you’re actually doing something special, you’re stepping in the right direction, and having this type of exposure is going to get you noticed more.
Skope: How are you gearing up for the fall and any touring plans?
Sky K: I have a lot in the works actually. I’m almost complete with a new album and have been doing quite a few features on tracks with other artists. Also, I’ve been helping out with youths who want to get better lyrically and am learning more about my studio and the things I can do with it. Currently, I have a track called Hey Hello featuring Miss Dee which is getting much play in Greece and I’m looking to head out that way for a tour. I’m also looking at doing a few gigs around NY and NJ and tons more to come for me here in Australia. So all in all it’s exciting stuff.
Skope: How many hours in the week are devoted to your music?
Sky K: Geez, I’m a music freak! I would say between the production, recording, fine tuning, and rehearsing, it would easily be about 5-8 hours a day so you’re looking at a minimum of 35 hours. It never seems like it’s that long though because you’re doing something you absolutely love. I love it, respect it, ands just can’t get enough of it.
Skope: What other bands & musicians are you listening to right now?
Sky K: Locally I like listening to my underground cats like Phrase, Fluent, Barbone and of course the Hoods but outside of that I’m really big into R&B and what I call baby making music, though you’ll never hear me try to get down like that hahaha. Some artist I admire and have in my cd changer at the moment are Monica, Ciara, Prince, Drake, Usher and Amy Winehouse, and Mavin Gaye never comes out hahahaha.
Skope: At what point in the day do you find you are most creative?
Sky K: I think it really depends. Generally I would say about noon until early evening but it really depends on what I have going on. I could be at the grocery store and have a situation arise that will spark the creativity or maybe even an argument with my partner will happen and i’ll have to throw myself into the studio. Most of what I write is about me and my changing moods and emotions so the time i’m at my highest creative peak is the time when something very serious whether positive or negative just occurs.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?
Sky K: There is so so much coming up. Like I mentioned earlier, I have a new album underway, I have tons of features with other artist happening, I have a track called How You Play The Game which is getting quite a bit of radio play on Indi stations in the USA, Hey Hello with Miss Dee still continues to do quite well, I’m looking into doing a bit of acting and a lot more gigs in Australia, and just staying flossy. If you want to know more always feel free to catch me on my website at www.skyk.com.au. It’s a work in progress but soon it will be updated regularly and the site itself looks simply amazing - Skope Magazine

Bio
Sky K was born in NYC and burst into the Australian Hip Hop scene in 2006. He was immediately noticed for his urban R&B/Hip Hop style. The first track he released was titled True Luv with vocals, beat, and production created by Sky K himself. The song featured another up and coming artist named MC Impact from NSW and shortly after, Sky was asked to do some work on the infamous Heavyweights album titled 3s a crowd released in 2007. His two tracks on the album, Im Sorry and First Encounter are two tracks full of attitude, energy and made himself a noticeable in the Australian Hip Hop community.
But not only is Sky K a dynamic lyricist with a raspy flow, easily distinguishing him from the many other artists, but he also brings to his music, melodic harmonies with a street gospel appeal which makes his material individual with a sound like no other. YOu can see this on tracks such as Step, Uhhh, Hell2DaNo, and his most recent masterpiece, So Dirty which demonstrates both his lyrical flow and flaming street ballads.
With the release of his debut album, Unbreakable, Sky K. was made recognised in both the R&B and Hip Hop community for his futuristic fresh sound and style. With the release of his second album, Eccentric Dimensions, he's making sure to stick around for decades to come. Sky K. has both a street sense and an educated mind and is a true example of his own motto, "Street but sweet. "
