Bio
Listening to the frenetic guitar-driven rock of Skinner, you’d naturally assume that Skinner’s music is a realization of him reaching some pre-fated musical destiny – a journey that began early in his childhood. Skinner joined his first band at the age of 22. After playing shows in Los Angeles and New York, Skinner would go on to form his first band Cochise in November, 2005. The group landed a number of gigs in New York playing some notable venues including Sine and Knitting Factory. The band eventually grew into the new name Mina Loy, and played an industry showcase before recording their first and only EP "Alienation". After Mina Loy, Skinner became a solo artist and began working on new music. He recorded some demos with various producers, but it was Andy Kravitz, (who has worked with The Rolling Stones, Joan Osborne and James Taylor, Shawn Colvin,Will Smith,Issaac Hayes and Dishwalla, and many others) who took his music to the next level, and helped him blossom into the singer/songwriter you hear today, summoning this new but familiar sound. With his self-titled debut record due out this spring it seems like the early 90's alternative rock sound will be making a huge comeback.
