Bio
In the rap game, flash-in-the-pan artists are called legends before they
can legally drive. By those standards, Skatterman is a OG in the game.
But his is a hard-earned title that comes after years of sweat and
heartache. Negotiating the notoriously grimy music business is nearly as
dangerous as growing up in the streets of east side Kansas City, but
Skatterman somehow avoided the pitfalls of both, making a name for
himself in the process.
Starting as a teen, the syllable spitter knocked out hits with
different groups, starting with Southside Rollers in 1999. In high
school, Skatterman met rapper Snug Brim, and the two became longtime
collaborators. When their 2001 album “Worth a Million” caught the
attention of Tech N9ne and his label Strange Music, the duo signed on
with Strange for a successful, seven-year run..
After 8 years as Strange Music's self proclaimed black sheep, 2011
marks the first official mixtape/album for Indie Icon Tech N9ne’s former
number one henchman. Skatterman has elevated his game even further
since his separation from right hand man Snug Brim to develop a new
sound and forge a new direction from a now solitary and more personal
point of view.
With his new imprint "BiggShot Music and Films", Skatterman is
prepping the field for a Midwest movement the likes of which has never
been seen. With the inaugural Mixtape “The Cook Book: Recipe 1 in 2011”
and the subsequent release in January 2012 of "The Cook Book; Recipe 2",
the industry veteran, breaks new barriers and provides fans with a
little more insight into life away from his previous label base.
2015 brings new resolve to break the glass ceiling and invade the Billboard charts. A new "Greatest Hits" mixtape and a new album will be released in the first half of the year with a return to the relentless touring that brought him awareness and a rabid fan base!
Now
after over 1000 shows with Tech N9ne, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Lil Flip and
Paul Wall among others, Skatterman is ready to leave his own indelible
mark on the music game.
