Bio
Javier Colina is considerate one of the best contrabasses of the current European scene, was initiated in this instrument in a self-taught way after having dedicated oneself to the study of the piano and the sol-fa. His career has brought him to correspond beside musicians consecrated in the world of the jazz like George Cables, John Hicks, Loui Bellson, Gary Bartz, Jimmy Owens, Frank Lacy, Idris Muhammad, Perico Sambeat and Tete Montoliu, among many other.
Out the jazz panorama he has collaborated with musicians of Flamenco like Tomatito, Radio Tarifa, El Bola, Carmen Linares, Dieguito o Enrique Morente, and he has experimented with the Cuban sound, accompanying on the double bass by Compay Segundo and la Ford Apache Band, or more recently with Bebo Valdés in his last record Lágrimas Negras.
He has obtained numerous prizes in recognition to his work and lately has published Si te contara, a mixed of jazz and Cuban sounds, accompanied by Pancho Amat, master of the little Cuban guitar.
Silvia Pérez Cruz is one of the best singers in Spain in the recent years.
Right now, have recorded her first album with javier Colina, "En la Imaginación" but before, she sang and became part of one the most popular flamenco band in Spain, Las Migas.
