Bio

Silentarmy was born and raised in sunny California. There he started rapping when he was the age of 9 repeating his favorite rappers rhymes and making up the words he didn't know. He would even manage to rap in his own name. Around the time puberty hit is was time to change those poems full of emotions that a teenager has into a rap career. He wrote, produced, engineered, mixed and recorded his first song at the age of 13. Something drove this kid to a direction his parents hated. Silentarmy continues to kick in doors that slam on him. With numerous reputations being handed out by various voices, he manages to make himself his worst critic. From those who used to beat him up to ex girlfriends, they all say one thing and that is he doesn't give up easy.

We may never how this kid started annoying co-workers with his raps, but some say his sister had something to do with it by polluting his mind with rap music. Growing up moving around about the same as the average military brat without having any family in the military, it was hard to claim a home. However, his mother finally found a spot in Fresno, CA. A single mother not approving of her child's tape collection, he managed to find someone to take him to concerts and record stores to further his love for hip-hop. Growing apart from his mother and his grades, he would later move out of his mothers and into his father's home in the bay area. Realizing he had to grow up by himself at the age of 16 he would move out and head to San Diego by himself and finish growing up.

While in San Diego, he managed to develop small poems and phrases into songs. He started playing local shows and frats to keep his skills sharp. Not exactly positive what he was doing, he wanted to create a demo that people could hear and appreciate. Silentarmy would then find the opportunity to push his sound out of state, besides what the Internet could do. The Vans Warped Tour and Code of tha Cutz put together a stage for unsigned artists in the summer of 2004.

Not having made a solid album sounding record ever and finding out he was booked 3 months before the tour, Silentarmy had his work cut out for him. He managed to create, what he considers a demo, in less than 3 months. Under the alias Mentally iLL, he put out his first EP titled "The Man Against Himself EP". With this new EP, he toured for the first time that summer. While on tour, Silentarmy made some important friends at a label called Rhymesayers Entertainment.

Silentarmy then moved to Minneapolis to further his music ambitions. In the summer of 2005, he joined a group called Substance Abuse and completed a compilation called "Substance Abuse Presents... Legboots Vol. #38". Which contained two solo tracks and several collaborations.

In July of 2005, Silentarmy was asked to ride along with Eyedea on the Eyedea and Friends Tour. He received nothing but outstanding feedback night after night, selling out cds in markets like Chicago, Omaha, and Ann Arbor.

A few months following the tour, Silentarmy decided to part ways with Substance Abuse due to creative differences and continue working on the debut album titled "Purpose Accidents". Around this time Silentarmy was able to play Cage's (Weathermen President, Def Jux/Cardboard City) "Hell's Winter" record release party in San Francisco. The show consisted of other Def Junkies like Aesop Rock, El-P, Big Wiz, and Yakballz.

"Definition: Dead" has sold over 4,100 units without any kind of label contract or distribution. Silentarmy continues to work hard and pursue a path the he continues to create...
