Shurba Ensemble

The main reason that led us to make a fusion between these two totally different music genres (blues and Iranian traditional music) was firstly: their similar basics: both genres have been derived from all time beloved folk songs that have a history behind and when you get into each of them, you find many things in common, like similar musical structures, riffs, rhythms and etc. secondly: we think that no genre solely has the answer to this century’s needs and that’s why we hear many exotic sounds in today’s western music and many western structures and styles in eastern music. At last, we think that we have found a door to this untouched land, and although we are at the start line yet but we think that the outcome is now ready to be unveiled.
Our first project (the lest: tragedy in five scenes) is a concept album about a man facing “the lest”. Every track represents a psychological state of the narrator. Every melody has been composed as an act or dialogue in a drama. We would like to add performance to it to make it more comprehensible in the near future.
