Bio
Inspired by albums such as MYLO XYLOTO (COLDPLAY), Fading West (Switchfoot), and Night Visions (Imagine Dragons), SHIRR’s debut EP, The Bright Side (10.28.15), is full of melodic ear worms that remind us to dream big, love completely, and fear not.
Founded in spring of 2013 by songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, Mel Collins, SHIRR formed at Berklee College of Music when Argentinean drummer and fellow Berklee classmate, Francisco Pawluszek responded to Collins’ ad seeking musicians for a recording session. For two years, Pawluszek helped Collins develop her music into what would ultimately become SHIRR.
In 2015, SHIRR’s released her debut EP, The Bright Side-- a bi-coastal project recorded remotely, and transferred back and forth between five musicians, Collins, and one mix-engineer.
2016 will be filled with more success for SHIRR as she begins a new journey with London-based label, Montiel Records, and heads off on a six-city through Europe.
Currently based in Boston, MA, SHIRR is an Alternative-Pop artist who's insistent melody lines, inspiring stories, and kaleidoscopic drum patterns, combine to move the listener above the waist, and below.
