Bio
Shaka
& The SoulShakers are a high energy Americana-Roots-R&B outfit
led by New Orleans transplant and front man Shaka.
Shaka
settled in southern CT after losing his home during the devastating
floods bought on in the wake of Hurricane Katrina back in 2005.
Honesty,
Energy, and Entertainment, is Shaka's motto, adding... "one never knows
what combustible form of spontaneity will rear it's head during a live
SoulShakers performance".
Ever
the road warrior, Shaka has spent considerable time in Europe appearing
on the club and festival circuit there as well as here in the
states, but is quick to point
out that performing full time on the Big Easy's Bourbon Street has
certainly helped to sharpen his skills as a showman and shape him into
the showman he is today, further adding... "if you couldn't belt a
Carny's bark and back your ballyhoo on Bourbon you weren't worth
your salt as a live performer".
In
2013 Shaka & The SoulShakers C.D. "Heard A Mighty Rumblin" was
voted Best Self Produced Blues C.D. in the state of Connecticut.
In
both 2011 & 2013 the SwampShaka Duo represented the state of Connecticut
at the I.B.C.'s in Memphis, Tennessee.
