Bio

Shades of Twilight formed in March of 2005, and have been leaving their mark on the Florida metal scene ever since. Guitarist/vocalist Van Tucker and bass player Kyle Swoboda began collaboratively writing a new breed of melodic thrash metal with influences from many different genres and styles. The band’s line up was completed by the addition of drummer Cody Paige and guitarist Brent Carlton. Their live shows are filled with a youthful exuberance that lights up the venue with their energy and passion. Shades of Twilight takes their music very seriously and are constantly working to perfect their craft.
The band quickly began playing shows and gaining fans. They earned respect for their performances as well as their professionalism. In November of 2006, Shades of Twilight was recognized as one of the Florida finalists for the international Emergenza Music Festival. Van Tucker was also singled out and received the Best Guitarist award for the Florida branch of the competition. From there, the band began playing more prominent shows such as Nightmare Metal Fest, featuring Cage and Avian, and opening a show for Straight Line Stitch and Occam’s Razor on their national tour. The band was also granted the opportunity to play in the 2008 Rock Solid Pressure Showcase by receiving the most votes for their song “Zero Hour” in the Rock Solid Radio Competition. Shades of Twilight took first place in the showcase, beating out 20 other bands from across the nation.
“We want to make music that is timeless, and will transcend the ages; music that won’t die with the passing of the various scenes and cliques, but instead be regarded as a gateway to an entirely new generation of music.” Spoken by Kyle Swoboda, this statement defines the band’s goals and aspirations. They have recorded at the prestigious Prostar Studios twice under technician Jody Gray and have received critical acclaim in the Tampa Tribune, St. Pete Times, and on the Rock Solid Pressure radio show based on these recordings. The band is currently writing and debuting new songs and hope to soon embark on a South-East tour supporting them.
