Bio

Seth Wonkka grew up in a central Massachusetts town in a home where musical instruments were always within arm’s reach. At the age of 8 he began taking guitar lessons and singing and he continued throughout his high school years. It was while living in Boston, MA and Portsmouth, NH, however, that he began writing his own songs - simple songs about life, relationships, visions of the way he had hoped things would be some day and stories about the way things really were. Seth’s passion for songwriting and a desire to perform his music live were the catalysts that inspired him to begin the search for a band.

In 2010 he found kindred spirits in drummer Sean Estella and bassist Nouredine Ousmane whose play for the song approach fit perfectly with his sound. The trio quickly amassed a catalogue of original songs and began performing in and around Boston. The band has appeared at mainstays of the local Boston music scene (Hard Rock Café, Davis Square Theatre, TT The Bears, Precinct, McGanns) as well as venues on the North Shore, and Portland, ME. Their sound, inspired by artists Amos Lee, Ray Lamontagne, Jason Mraz, and Howie Day can best be described as acoustic rock with hints of folk, pop, and even a little country. In 2012 the trio added Michael Desmarais on keys, contributing his melodic sensibility and helping to create that full sound. Most recently, Valentina Brown brings her amazing "Big Belle" saxaphone skills to the table and helps out with backing vocals!!!

The summer of 2012 proved to be an exciting time for Seth and the band. Not only was their single “Anything” featured on The River 92.5’s Homegrown Showcase, but the band also performed at The River’s Music Matters Festival along with national artists Meiko, Jason Spooner, Maia Sharp, and Scars on 45.

The band’s debut CD, “More Than Him”, was unveiled on December 15, 2012 at The Hard Rock Café in Boston where the group hosted a CD release party. The album, recorded by Brian Coombes at Rocking Horse Studio in Pittsfield, NH, expands on the band’s solid foundation, adding piano, cello, organ, and lush vocal harmonies.

Seth and the band are gearing up for a busy 2013. With a new record and new material, the band plans to expand their performance reach across New England.
