Schoolcraft & Murray: Songs For The Inarticulate

Bio
Michael Schoolcraft & Michael Butler Murray both came from the world of music, acting and improvisation. Before they met, Schoolcraft had been honing his comedic skills across the country by performing with the comedy troupe, “Mumbly Peg,” and musical improv group, “The New Tonics.” Murray had been kicking around in the professional theater scene in NYC and Chicago, including a run in the National Tour of “Mamma Mia!” After meeting at an acting class in Hollywood, CA, they soon began playing together and writing songs based on names in the phonebook. Having exhausted that, they branched out into songs from words in the dictionary. Not wanting to be limited, they began writing songs from the endless resources of their own experiences of failed relationships and disastrous career choices.
Their influences include: Steely Dan, Flight of the Conchords, The Smothers Brothers, Tenacious D, The Allman Brothers, Lionel Ritchie, Steve Martin, James Taylor, Bob Newhart, Flatt & Scruggs, Hall & Oates, Robbie Fulks, and Thin Lizzy.
