Up and Comer Graduates Scarlitt have continued tearing it up since they last graced the pages of this section. Aside from playing live everywhere in the area, the band, made up of Steve Vitiello on vocals and guitar, Tom Rogers on drums, Josh Thompson on lead guitar and new bassist Tim Khanian, released a 5 song EP of their signature melodic-metal sound. Within those 5 songs, the band accomplishes what many bands attempt, but without sacrificing their hardcore roots. Think Killswitch Engage, but with more harmonizing melodic parts ~ and way catchier. Rogers describes their style as \ldblquote pop metal. The 4-piece draws influences from a variety of different bands from the rock/hard rock genre. Everyone from Avenged Sevenfold to Rush can be heard in their style. We definitely have quite a broad horizon, Rogers said. The guys have spent the year playing as much as possible all over New England, and hope to branch out to New York soon. They released the EP in September, and have no plans of slowing down any time soon; they\rquote re currently taking some time off from shows to begin the writing process for their next record. Perfection comes at a price though, as they plan on not settling for mediocrity, and finding the right studio to capture their sound. This could take time, and according to Rogers, the new record will probably be coming out sometime in 2010. It may seem like they'll be missing this winter, but they will surely be hard at work writing their new full-length. After the cold dark days of winter pass, they\rquote ll be back in full effect playing everywhere in the area. While most bands just try to get things out as soon as possible, Scarlitt spends their time practicing and perfecting everything. Practice is almost a job for these guys, as they aim to make their songs flawless. Don't sleep on this band. If you do, you'll be missing out on some of Worcester's hardest working guys keeping things honest, and best of all keeping things heavy. - Pulse Magazine

Bio
"Think outside the box"; a motto that defines what New England metalcore band Scarlitt, formerly One Bullet Solution, lives by. Fusing elements from their diverse musical tastes, the group strives to continue to excite fans by combining the brutality of metal with the heartfelt emotion of rock, forming cohesive music that keeps fans thirsty for more. By staying true to what each member loves about music, Scarlitt has formed an interesting blend of genres that is catching fire throughout the metal scene and it is continuing to spread.
"We never try to mimic what our favorite bands are doing," states drummer Tom Rogers. "Somehow we always find a way to draw from our influences and mix them together. We love metal, so we add metal; we love rock, so we add rock; we love some pop sounds, so we add those as well. We try to combine all of these elements while keeping a high-energy metal style." Having written five strong songs, the band created their debut EP, "Undying Ties, which was released on September 6, 2008. The album is a true collage of their musical tastes. The driving metal sounds of the song "Needlepoint", the catchy melodies of "Sibilance", and the straight forward aggression of "Memory Box", shows what the quartet believes what music should be about, diversity. Pulse magazine wrote the following in a review featured in a 2009 issue: "...the band accomplishes what many bands attempt, but without sacrificing their hardcore roots. Think Killswitch Engage, but with more harmonizing melodic parts ~ and way catchier."
The current success of Scarlitt is derived from the ashes of the group's history. Lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Steve Vitiello, comes from the Massachusetts band, Backwoods, who broke up after several years of heavy touring and multiple CD releases. With his experience and education in Music Business and Music Production, Steve has been been able to lead the band with the unique skills he has obtained as a front-man through being well versed in the music scene. Lead guitarist and backing vocalist, Josh Thompson, has been what some call the "musical genius" of the group. Not only has Josh been working on sweeps and string skipping since he was a young teenager, but he is also an accomplished vocalist, drummer, and pianist due to his love for music. Bassist and backing vocalist, Tim Khanoyan, could be considered the entertainment of the live show. Tim is a natural born performer. If at a live show you enjoy watching someone get in your face, spin their guitar, and sing along to every lyric, then Tim is the man to watch. Precision drummer, Tom Rogers, is the backbone of the band with his playing and his many business and markerting skills. By refusing to play without consistency and a metronome, he makes an intense and solid rhythm section sound easy to orchestrate. Rogers also takes pride in keeping a tour schedule filled to the top, knowing that this band can rock a crowd of all shapes and sizes. With these individual talents, each member brings their unique skills to the table day in and day out to compose the best music possible as well as put on the best live performance possible.
Since the release of "Undying Ties", Scarlitt has accomplished in a couple short years what most do not accomplish in many. They have toured as direct support for former Atlantic Records artist, Taproot, performed with other big name acts such as Sevendust, Nonpoint, Trust Company, Skindred, Diecast, and The Dreaming, and have co-headlined stages like the Worcester Palladium plus many more. The band has also shared the stage with some of New England's favorite local acts at many venues and cities throughout the northeast, further establishing their name across the region. However, the band has even bigger plans for the near future.
Following in the footsteps of successful metal heavyweights like Killswitch Engage, Underoath, All That Remains, and Unearth, the band has recorded their brand new EP Hope Unseen at Zing Studios in Westfield, MA which is slated for a June 12, 2010 release date. "The songs on this cd are intense" bassist Tim Khanoyan admits. "This album will definitely set a very high standard for us and we're very excited to show everyone what we're made of and exceed every expectation out there." Hope Unseen has seven diverse tracks. The songs have further stretched the band's limits by incorporating even heavier sounds as well as even lighter sounds. With the album wrapped up, the group plans on launching themselves back into the music scene by diving into heavy marketing, promoting, and touring to turn more heads than ever.
With the future looking bright for this young metal outfit, do not be surprised to see and hear them almost everywhere you go. By using their cohesive musical style and their motto of thinking outside the box, Scarlitt will have people singing while keeping the heads slamming.
