Peter Boyer: Northern Saloons and Community Halls - There's something very endearing about this Windsor singer songwriter's music. On the one hand, this collection of folk-country tunes is quite humble: Basic cowboy chords, plain-spoken lyrics, and Boyer's conversational, semi drawling voice. On the other hand, it's a polished presentation, with tasteful accompaniement that includes harmonica, single note electric guitar and a female back up singer. There's also ambition: Boyer encourages others top cover these songs, and he's put together a book with chord changes and lyrical explanations for that purpose. If I still had my made in Korea acoustic, I'd definitely give it a try. Email petercboyer@gmail.com

NOMINATED FOR AN ONTARIO INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARD FOR BEST FOLK ALBUM OF 2008! RECEIVED 2009 UK SONGWRITING AWARD FOR THE SONG "THE FAERIE QUEEN". RECEIVED AN HONOURABLE MENTION FROM THE GREAT LAKES SONGWRITING CONTEST IN 2010 FOR THE SONG "SONG FOR LOUIS RIEL". Received two semi finalist awards in 2013 from the UK Songwriting Contest for "Union Man" and "The Ghost of Bullock's Tavern".
Same Latitude As Rome is a group of ace session players from throughout Southern Ontario that forms a band nucleus to back up songwriter Peter Boyer for recordings and concerts. SLAR Songwriter Peter Boyer is an experienced musician and songwriter who has performed as a solo artist and sideman throughout Canada at festivals, concerts and bars. The band members bring their professional backgrounds as symphony, rock, jazz and celtic musicians to create a wonderful fusion of styles to form an original Canadian Folk sound.
