Bio
Sabrina y Los Reyes formed in December 2005 with lead vocalist Sabrina Gomez, guitarist Bob Knapp and bassist Jim Hewett. Since then Jim has moved on and the duo has augmented their musical collaborative with other equally gifted players Steve Jones, John Butorac, Roger Yamashita, Adrian Clarke, and at festival times Kevin Chryst. All are from the Pacific Northwest/ Greater Vancouver BC area, and have performed at live music venues, summer concert series, Community Co-op celebrations, wineries, breweries, museums, weddings, fundraisers, music festivals, cultural festivals, and private parties. Their unique creative direction is a Spanish/English blend of world alternative influenced Latin, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Hip Hop, Calypso, Boleros, Folk, Rock, Acoustic and Ranchera music, known as Latin Fusion. Each musician who plays with them brings their distinctive musical background to the band giving the music its inimitable style.
They released the album "Amor en Verde" in 2008. The title and concept were inspired by the themes of love and life, as well as Sabrina's children. The songs were born of what green symbolizes: life, nature, fertility, and well being in strength and love. It became a musical concoction featuring full bodied Latin flavor with Afro-Cuban undertones, a fresh jazzy finish, and world beat effervescence with a reggae garnish. Served on a bed of dance grooves with a side of salsa. Original recipes and selected covers. Their second studio album is about to be released so stay tuned in.
