Bio
Roland, who took the surname of the band’s drummer Rusty Roland, is a four-piece rock n roll group hailing from Asheville, North Carolina and stationed in Savannah, Georgia. Ross Martin and Corey Hines share guitar and vocal duties, and Keenan Burant plays bass to round out the group’s melodic, guitar-driven rock sound. Starting in the fall of 2010, the band has been playing locally in Savannah at house shows, outdoor music festivals, and events sponsored by the Savannah College of Art & Design. In spring 2011, SCAD’s District Quarterly magazine called Roland’s debut EP Hotel Neon “sophisticated, poetic and soulful,” and invited the band to perform at the issue’s launch party. The group has also recently traveled back to their hometown of Asheville, North Carolina to perform at such venues as the Lexington Avenue Brewery, the Garage at Biltmore, and MoDaddy’s. The band has also previously performed at Asheville’s famous Orange Peel club.
The group traveled to Atlanta in February of 2011 to the Living Room Studios in the city’s Little Five Points district to record the four tracks that would become the Hotel Neon EP. The songs show an indie and blues-rock influence, with large catchy hooks and soulful anthemic choruses. Each band member is in his early twenties, and incorporates youthful energy and style into their dynamic live shows.
