Bio
I have been a Child Care Worker for the past 16 years working with children as young as babies to 12 year olds. Currently I work full-time at St. Morris Community Child Care Centre and have been employed there for 6 years.
As part of my training I have learnt about and implemented the SACSA Framework (South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability) and have been through QIAS (Quality Improvement and Accreditation System) on 3 occasions. Both incorporate principles and objectives such as, respectful and protective behaviors, emotional well being, mathematical concepts, healthy eating, good friendships, sharing and caring.
My musical history spans back 23 years, guitar and vocals my first instruments, with some experience with bass guitar, drums and piano.
Throughout the years I have played many genres of music including Rock ‘N’ Roll, Reggae, Swing, Soul, Blues and Rock. My biggest influence being 50’s and 60’s Rock ‘N’ Roll. This along with the training and experience I have gained in Child Care has led me to record my debut children’s album Rockin’ Rocky “In The Jungle.” It has been a wonderful journey, one that has enhanced my career as a singer/songwriter, musician, caregiver and performer.
I am one of the founding members of Street Talk, a five piece outfit who have been entertaining audiences in Adelaide for the past 17 years (and still going strong), playing music from the fifties to current day.
Since releasing my children’s album Rockin’ Rocky “In The Jungle” (November 2004), I have sold approximately 800 copies from private sales, Child Care Centres, Kindergartens and Schools. The album is also available from Carrigs Music, The Muses, Dillons Music, Windmill Educational Toys and recently available nationally through MGM Distribution (Regal Records)
Also I have put together a cast of performers that have brought to life “The Rockin’ Rocky Show,” a children’s interactive dance show. In the past 2 years The Rockin’ Rocky show has performed almost a 100 shows at Kindergartens, Pre-Schools, Child Care Centres, Schools, The Children’s Hospital and public events such as: The Civic Park Spectacular (2005), 102.3 Family Festival (2006), Bakehouse Theatre (2006), The Almond Blossom Festival (2006) and The Pt. Augusta Fair (2006).
