Robert Gee wants to transport "true soul"and arouse the deepest emotions with his album. With a seductive voice and tangible sound he does exactly this. Gee is a singer, song wiriter and producer all in one. In cinema and theater he feels fine but his passion he finds in music.
The album opens with "All mY Love" in the finest R&B tradition. Robert gees voice lies down like a silk cloth in the programmed beats and saxophone playing influenced title. In the approach one could already read there's something unusual about Gees voice. He sounds clear and soulful, really persuasive. In any case he has what is popularly called that certain something. Gee delivers the tracks with constant quality. He inserts touching ballads that reach deeply into
the emotional world. On "Waiting" it becomes clear with which intensity and expressive power Gee works on songs. In his voice reveals itself what one calls "Deeper Soul". For people with a broken heart "Waiting" is certainly the favorite.
However, it is not purely a quiet storm trimmed album. Gee also has R&B packed Hip Hop tracks. This is quite hip and substantially prove the versatility of the singer is the jazz classic "Round Midnight". The jazz song looks a little lost and isolated in this album. But he coveys the feelin of a smoky piano bar very vividly. Cleverly done.
The high quality independent production holds a beneficial distance from the average music, tends to be extraordinary and spoils the senses with a fine mix of R&B and Soul. But Gees velvet voice with high precision plays the main role. The album "All My Love" will leave you in a positive sense, deep song tracks. Crystal clearly.

"Here We Go", taken from the hot debut release "All My Love" by Philly's own Robert Gee spent 6 weeks in the top 10 Morpheus Soul count down then broke the "world famous" TOP 5 count down to capture the number one spot and hold it for 3 weeks consecutively! The song was also nominated for The Morpheus Soul Show single of the year! - THE TEMPORARY RESIDENTS
Finally, those of you who don't mind a touch of R&B with your soul might get into ALL MY LOVE from Philly vocalist and writer ROBERT GEE. The thing that sets it apart is that Rob can surely sing, ( calling in his sleeve notes) on friends and inspiration such as Luther Vandross, Teena Marie, Patti LaBelle, Ollie Woodson and more. Of course, this means that he doesn't necessarily follow whatever the latest R&B trend is - like, who cares? Instead opting to singthe way he learned on a bunch of melodies that old fuddy duddy soul fans will lap up. A bit Brian McKnight then, not so samey in the song department.
Naturally, my own preference is for the moments he takes it over towards our territory and his Hathaway tendencies rise to the top: a softly glowing cover of 'Round Midnight for example. But there's every chance you'll enjoy this CD's greater part. Give it a whirl, who don't cha.

It becomes clearer every day that independent soul music has come of age. How else do you explain a CD like ALL MY LOVE from cali based singer/songwriter ROBERT GEE? Boasting a level of musicianship and production sheen that is indistinguishable from it's major label counterparts.
With a brave new world of recording technology, it comes down to the great equalizers: the singer and the song. And that's where a CD like ALL MY LOVE shows it's edge. Sounding Like a vocal blend of Koll and the Gangs James "JT" Taylor and Gospels J. Moss, Gee possesses an expressive, versatile tenor voice that is both commercial and appealing. and it is made all the more attractive via his unerring knack for a hook in the eleven compositions on ALL MY LOVE.
The disc opens smartly with its best track, the mid tempo title cut. With immediate, jumpy percussion and Pamela Williams' jazz sax as a backdrop, Gee confidently glides through this great, radio ready track. And the good news is that while ALL MY LOVE is the albums most commercial cut, it is by no means the only memorable one. Gee has a keen sense of melody that pervades all of his compositions and each has enough to please. So even though cuts like "Can I Tell You" and "I Don't Want To Lose Your Love" (with the requisite rap interlude) are a bit under developed beyond the catchy hook, others such as the beautiful inspirational track "No Greater Love" and the 70's style slow jams "Come Home" and "I really miss Your Love" are absolutely top notch.
Perhaps The most enjoyable thing about ALL MY LOVE - and there are a lot of enjoyable momentson the disc - is that Gee has taken on the oversaturated world of contemporary R&B, where attitude and gimmicks have largely replaced song construction and vocal prowess, and has released an earnest, dceptively simple disc, where melody and honest to goodness singing shie through. Consequently, by taking a sllightly ols school approach to his debut, Robert Gee sounds absolutely fresh, issuing one of the most consistently accessible albums of the year. Highly recommended. This is more of an R&B set than previous
albums I have reviewed of late, and as such has taken more of a concerted listen to get into it. But the effort certainly pays off trust me! There is more intelligence in this genteman than you'll find on the run of the mill sets spewed out by the majors, and as such is far more accessible than most that are around at the moment. The general flow of the album is downtempo to midtempo and I suppose a good comparison would be that if you like artist such as Cognac and Kino Watson than you should also like ROBERT GEE. ALL MY LOVE is definitely a grower that will wet your appetite for what follows. Another favorite is the guitar led song called "I Really Miss your Love" which allows Robert to really flex his vocal chops. On some tracks he sounds a bit like Craig David - which is ok as I have a soft spot for old Craig. But on cuts like this he really has verve and Dynamism!
I really took quickly to the clonking hand-clapper When You Get Down To It" - this is the sort of track that Brian McKnight takes to on his "Ten" release and is certainly a bass pin trembler but yet easy on the ear. "Come Home" eith it's warm synth and sexy beat is a winner and does nothing but elevate Robert from his legion of contemporaries. again the same could be said of the gospel- based "No Greater Love". This is probably the most musically accessible cut for the traditionalist out there. I really appreciate the music if not the content
and I love the Take 6 styled harmonies
he utilizes. "here We Go" works well too. I particularly like the lazy, drunken guitar and synth. I mentioned Brian McKnight earlier and his "Ten" album. If that is up your street then "Waiting" will also be a track that you will feel. For me this is one of the stronger tracks. The CD is , as I say, a growerand a cut that originally did not register is the 4:AM Sexy Remix of " All My Love" - this is one to keep in mind. The etheric vocal/synth touches adds a futuristic flavor and gives it more of a texture to let the the old grey matter work with. Excellent! This is an album that will appeal to those who love bot traditional sounds and more rough, urban edges. A recommended release from an artist with a glowing future.
