Robbie Saunders and the 32-20s

Now 22, I've been playing music in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area since the age of 15. I grew up influenced by my uncle, Jack Saunders, who has played and toured the world with Gurf Morlix and Ray Wylie Hubbard and now produces artists full time at his studio in Houston. He turned me on to the Beatles and the Byrds, as well as Jimi Hendrix and Gram Parsons when I was in middle school. He also produced and recorded the four song EP which is featured here and is set to be released within the next month. My influences are very diverse. As a singer, I love John Lennon's voice as well as those of soulful singers such as Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. As a musician, I love Jimi Hendrix, Mike Campbell, and Buddy Guy and even the phrasing tendencies of jazz musicians such as Charlie Parker and Louie Armstrong. I also has been very influenced by folk-based guitarists and singer/songwriters like Neil Young and Cat Stevens. What sets me apart is my ability to digest and take in different influences without being defined or pigeonholed by any one of them. This, I believe, best describes the true essence of the spirit of rock and roll music. Since procuring a new band line up in John McCormick and Chris Licce in 2008, I've recorded and am set to release my first EP,while also recording another one as we speak.
