Right on Yukon is a musical project that is made up of Greg Wadden, Patrick Shea, Jason Szeto andCameron Lawrence but often includes many others (going to have trouble listening them under a province). They are an alternative rock band with some free tracks on Bandcamp. Sometimes they are on the slower, bluesier side and sometimes they are just straight up rock n’ roll. - Ride The Tempo

Here comes a review of yet another band with Yukon in their name with no band members from the territory. And like the other band with Yukon in its name (you know who I’m talking about) this band also features an awesome bit of rhyme in their band name.
But I digress from the band name. The National Policy, the first recording from Right On Yukon, is the sound of a band beginning to find its footing. The five songs vary in speed and style, providing a sort of sonic grab-bag of sorts.
The opening track “Bought and Sold” provides the listener with a solid wall of sound. There’s all kinds of stuff happening here, but it’s hard to distinguish. Not that’s it a bad thing, of course. Nothing like getting your face rocked off to start your listening experience.
“Haunted” tones things down, but only a little. The bass is very prevalent in this song, and it starts a little slowly but quickly builds up speed and volume to recapture a rock sound.
Funny enough, I actually heard a bit of Yukon Blonde in the third song, “Cadillac.” The song has a bit of a country flavour, but it becomes delightful with the addition of vocal harmonies and backup vocals. It’s an almost dreamy number.
“Never Learned to Love” returns to a rock sound, though this time the subject matter makes it somewhat like a rock ballad (if the title wasn’t already a dead giveaway).
The EP ends with “Don’t Let It Get To You,” probably the most fascinating track of the five. What starts out as an oh-so-Canadian rock anthem transforms halfway through, bringing back the delightful vocal harmonies that you hear in “Cadillac.”
It’s obvious the band is still exploring how they want to proceed with regards to their sound, and they definitely have a few options. If they start making more songs like “Cadillac” and “Don’t Let It Get To You” then I’ll be a happy camper.

Halifax's Right On Yukon play a mix of experimental indie rock and jazz-rock. You can hear it on their recently released The National Policy EP, which contains "Haunted."
That track can be streamed above, and sees them combining influences as disparate as Sloan, The Doors and, um, Mahavishnu Orchestra. - CHARTattack
