"Hordinski shows himself to be the rarest kind of virtuoso - one w ho knows when not to play...and what not to play. "Music is not just about notes," he says. "It's about the space between the notes." And what makes Hordinski's music so compelling is that it transcends both notes and spaces, communicating to the listener something that transcends the literal."

"There are some transcendent recordings here ...vastly sprawling, hypnotically lulling aural atmospheres, inhabited by unwieldy webs of spiraling melody. The songs seem like spacious, mysterious rooms, waiting to be filled with images. One can't help but hope Hordinski soon gets another shot at composing for film." —Daryl Cater, All-Media-Guide - Daryl Cater, All-Media-Guide

Bio
Years before Radiohead put Sigur Rós on the map, Ric (pronounced "Rich") Hordinski was painting soundscapes . His instrumental interludes and echo-laden guitar gave bands like Over the Rhine a rich, layered sound, and kept them from falling into the mid-tempo singer-songwriter abyss. Since leaving OTR, Ric has appeared on records with John Mayer, David Wilcox, Ben Harper, Richard Thompson, Tony Levin, Bill Kreutzmann, Victor Wooten, Victoria Williams ,obbie Fulks etc. He's produced award-winning records for a host of folks including Wilcox and Phil Keaggy. On his own, hiding behind the Monk moniker, he released five independent records that featured alternately the songwriting craft he honed during his eight years in OTR, the ambient guitar that garnered demand as a studio musician and the ear for songcraft that makes him an excellent producer. ric recieved a grammy nomination in 2003, two cammy awards and a dove award in the last four years.
as a live musician ric is probably one of the few to have shared the stage with Moby and Johnny Cash. Adrian Belew and Bob Dylan. Indigo Girls and David Wilcox...
