Bio

RG Morse was born in Oregon, went to university on an art scholarship, ended up working on his PhD in political science. A professional dreamer, he left the USA at the age of 19 seeking love, fame and adventure -- and never returned. Morse's songs tend to be literate but highly accessible, each essentially a short story informed by a highly eventful life (he's written 5 books and lived/travelled all over the world) with a distinct, often philosophical or wry point of view. Currently working on his first album (working title: "I like national parks"), Morse's current tunes range from love ballads ("Janet," -- "all the makings of a hit song," Mike Pinder, Moody Blues), to political commentary ("I wonder why the rain," "Dead heroes"); from the whimsical ("I love national parks") to the majestic ("Open landscapes"). Musically, Morse is influenced by a bevy of artists -- Dylan, Donavan, Warren Zevon, John Prine, Tom Petty, Ulf Lundell, Neil Young, Woodie Guthrie. His music, like everyone's, is shaped by his life experiences - an American who doesn't live in America, a man who's been around several blocks, who keeps his eyes open and his ear to the ground, ably backed musically by the talented Czech musician/producer Tomas Brabec and gifted guitarist Ray Mailman. Morse is also an author (5 published books under his belt), an artist, and sits on the board of the Kaslo Jazz Festival (cited as one of the top-10 outdoor music festivals in North America in 2008, according to the unimpeachable source, USA Today).
