Rear Naked Choke

Band Bio:

Rear Naked Choke was formed in 2009 in Abilene Texas. Though it all started when a few friends got together to just jam and have a little fun it soon became obvious that there was something special going on. It didn't take long for the ideas to start flowing and songs began taking form. After a few member shuffles the band solidified and things really started to move forward for the band.

Through their own brand of Heavy Rock n Roll and high energy live performances they began gaining notice in the local music scene. That attention has gotten them the opportunities to play with National and Regional bands such as Texas Hippy Coalition, Messer, Hounds of Jezebel and more. They recently released their first single “Better Man” to iTunes and other online retailers and it has also been getting radio airplay, they are in the process of recording their first full album.

While RNC has their own style and sound and don't attempt to emulate or fit into a mold, fans of music in the vein of Godsmack, Five Finger Death Punch, Down, Avenged Sevenfold etc... will enjoy the music of Rear Naked Choke.

Member Bios:

Mick Taylor was born in Bowie, TX but raised in Oklahoma. After cutting his teeth in Lawton, OK, Mick returned to Texas ready to take the music scene by storm. A veteran of several successful bands Mick brings experience to RNC. That experience, along with his strong lyrical ability, unique & powerful voice and high energy presence, continues to excite audiences everywhere RNC plays.

Mike Morgan was born on a Naval base in Pensacola, Florida until coming to live in Abilene, Texas in his early teens. Mike's road to guitar started in high-school when he borrowed $25 from his grandmother to get his first guitar. Mike is a never ending source of riffs and song ideas. He is also one of the most experienced members of RNC, having also been in several successful bands. Mike's exceptional guitar playing is the cornerstone of the RNC sound.

Chris Summers was born & raised in Abilene, Texas. He first got interested in guitar after his cousin, Mike, got a guitar and started playing. Since then guitar has remained a large part of his life. From working at music stores to using music as a inspiration for his artwork, music was a constant. Chris's no nonsense playing style complements the music and provides solid guitar work that keeps the RNC sound strong.

Ferron Mercer born in Oklahoma City but moved to Abilene in the early 80's. After getting his first taste of live local rock n roll he knew he found his calling. It wasn't until some years later when his cousin needed a bass player for his band that he decided that was what he wanted to do. Since then Ferron has continued to hone his musical abilities providing a solid foundation for the RNC music he loves.

Cody Mills was born in Abilene, Texas. Getting interested at a young age, Cody has spent most of his life involved in music in some form. While he is still fairly young he has been playing drums for over 10 years. His tasteful rhythms, solid double bass and energetic playing provide the beat of the band. Along with Ferron, Cody creates the backbone of RNC.
