Bio

Biography

Born Raleigh Clark III, a third generation resident of Brooklyn, NY, Raleigh "Real Chop" Clark began his musical career early as the son of a touring Keyboard player. Clark was kept in tow carrying musical equipment for his Father, who played for the likes of Chaka Khan, Roy Ayers, Earth Wind and Fire, and many other known bands/musicians. Clark was encouraged to realize his musical abilities. He began playing classical Violin at 8 and by sophomore year in high school, Clark was commanding lead Tenor Saxophone roles in his high school Big Band, where he was awarded on numerous occasions for outstanding performance by outside performance organizations.

Although his love for music spanned many genres, Clark had an uncanny talent for songwriting, and more specifically for Hip Hop music. Influenced by the likes of KRS One, A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Afrika Bambataa, De La Soul, and of course Jay Z, NAS, and The Notorious B.I.G, Clark began to take his raps seriously in the early 90's at the middle school lunch table. By high school, he was recording his own original music. By college, Clark had managed to attract the attention of Def Poetry Jam and would eventually be given his own poetry night by acclaimed poet Jessica Care More in Atlanta, GA.

In 2000 Real Chop Clark moved to Atlanta to pursue his aspirations as a Recording Artist. Eventually, Clark began to make a name for himself as a hard working intern for the Michael Jordan sponsored and Mo-Jazz executive ran imprint Hidden Beach Recordings. As a student of Clark Atlanta University, Clark co-supervised, organized, staffed, and managed many operations for the Atlanta Intern Team, for his own company, and for the likes of Jill Scott, Darrius Rucker, and Mike Phillips.  Clark brought records and organized events to and for the city's most notarized DJ's like DJ Ryan Cameron, DJ Frank Ski, DJ Drama, DJ Sense, DJ Jamal Ahmad, and the late DJ Ken Batie of WCLK.

"The experience taught me a lot about how to do things properly," Clark continues "Working under people like Mike Parker and Charles Whitfield gave me an elevated sense of work ethic and attention to detail." Clark expanded on his abilities by doing whatever he could to remain actively working in the market by promoting parties (MetroBoyz, A.J Promotions), event planning for his own company, and even also working as a part time Journalist for iStandardProducers.com where he reviewed and interviewed countless producers for the company.  Eventually Clark was forced to put his musical ambitions on hold to serve the United States Marine Corps as a Field Medical Service Technician (Corpsman) including a Deployment to Iraq, where he served as a convoy staff medical official for Transportation and Security missions.

However, soon after his stint of service he went right back to work with Grammy award winning producer Wyldfyer and FOCUS.  In 2011, Clark hooked up with WMG Royalty Dept Admin Toddrick O. Ricks who offered him non-biased consulting and helped him shop his promo package #CHAMPION.  In 2012, Clark moved out to Los Angeles and formed a publishing venture and alliance with Bernard "IQ" Johnson of Noize Factory Studios in San Diego, CA.    Johnson expanded Clarks operational knowledge of the current music industry and helped develop and mature his recording techniques into what they are today.  With Clarks specialized ear for beat selection and Johnsons trained ear for sonic quality, this venture promises to deliver nothing short of classic hip hop material.

Real Chop Clark is currently working two projects. Both releases will soon be available for download on all media formats.
