Bio
A Toronto-based band with roots from Northern Ontario, Ray Boulay and the Constituents (RBC) has been playing together since 2001.
Members Ray Boulay (Lead Vox / Guitar), Brendan Peltier (Vox / Piano / Keys),
Mike Brisbin (Bass) and Richard Cambridge (Drums), make up this quartet that has been described as “Acoustic Rock and a Broadway Musical in a Shake’n' Bake Bag.” and “Modified Acoustic Rock.” RBC strives to put on the best show possible for its audiences. Its goal is simple: make audiences laugh with improvisational songs, crazy interaction and rock them with their unique brand of high-energy music. “Each and every show is important and we like to include the audience to be part it.”
Stylistically, RBC’s writing is acoustic rock, but differs from one song to the next. They sound nothing like Blue Rodeo, Dave Matthews, Daniel Lanois, Elvis Costello, The Talking Heads or Hawksley Workman; but have trace elements of all these great performers while their songs are instantly recognized as RBC. With Ray’s classically trained theatrical/pop rock voice, Brendan’s Ben Folds fingers, Mike’s melodic bass lines, right on through to Richard’s creative rock steady beats, RBC’s songs have a way of getting into people’s heads. Catchy songs like their rock/county “The Lucky One”, the Elvis Costello-esk ”Everybody Say Ahh” and the rock drive of “Get You From The Inside”; RBC’s songs are the kind you just can’t forget.
