"Random Order, Toronto's premier subversive rock band's stage show, is known for the kind of blistering high energy that has to be experienced in person to be believed. When Lynx performed Black Lipstick Kiss; before it was released at an open mic, the audience went ballistic, and that was the impetus to start moving toward a more dangerous sexy sound."
j. poet - Magnet Magazine August 2014 printed in issue 112
Some of the best albums to listen to are the ones that make you feel as if you were living a movie, an album that may not have its own cinematic through line, but puts you firmly in the starring role by virtue of its own awesomness. Black Lipstick Kiss by Random Order is one such album. Clearly influenced by the tones and aesthetic in Quentin Tarantino films and the James Bond franchise, Black Lipstick Kiss plants a big wet one on you"
Troy Arnold - The Examiner
"one can’t help but marvel at Random Order’s ability to bring underground culture into the mainstream. For us outsiders who have been waiting for someone to champion, the messiah has arrived."
Mike Olinger - The Vinyl District
Random Order the sub-rock superstars from Toronto have performed all around the globe, charting the Canadian Top 30 and even opening for artists as diverse as Joan Osborne and Salt-n-Pepa. The band has a list of musical influences with a wide range of genres, including PJ Harvey, The Pixies and The Clash.
Amanda Cowan - Empty Lighthouse
Black Lipstick Kiss is a fun, well-rounded album that can appeal to a diverse range of listeners. The attitude of rollicking fun that is present throughout the album shines through with its bright pulses of trombone, sensual lyrics, and high energy tracks. I bet they also put on a great live performance. What’s not to love?"

Taking cues from Twin Peaks, James Bond, and Quentin Tarantino films, Indie Toronto-based collective Random Order's spine-tingling sub-rock attracts a diverse cultural audience. With equal parts irony, confidence, and catharsis, lead-singer and song-writer Lynx channels PJ Harvey, The Pixies, and The Clash into the distinct sound of a 6-piece band.
Their newest offering, Black Lipstick Kiss, injects their signature subversive rock into the sexy soundscapes of dangerous spy movies. The new direction is possibly the result of acute cinema binging, being that most of the material for the new album was written while Lynx was caught in a hurricane during Halloween and resorted to watching 24-hour horror film marathons in a hotel room for 5 days straight.
Since their inception in 2005, Random Order have consistently released great material, toured Canada, the East Coast, and Japan, played festivals and opened for artists as diverse as Salt-n-Pepa, Joan Osborne, Michelle Shocked, Sistah Carol, Judy Mowatt, Bassnectar and Ari-Up (The Slits).
Random Order has maintained their punk roots while becoming known for bringing their underground culture to a wider market. Their shows have drawn a following that can only be described as tribal, and with each release it has become clearer and clearer that above all things unique and musical, they advocate a sense of fun and belonging.
They are currently charting in Canadian top 30 college radio and have landed the number 2 spot twice in their home base Toronto. They have been played on radio stations in Ireland, Germany, Holland and The US.

"When Random Order gets on stage, you have no choice but to submit to the moving of your body guaranteed to pull you into that horn-blowing-bass-thumping-rawk-vocals-ska-rythms-full-of-energy groove, and not let go until well after they've left the stage." (Shara Gustafson - Festival Director: Robson Valley Music Festival)
Random Order is signed with indie labels Cat Scratch Records (CND), NHP Music (MEX) Blue Pie Records (AUS)
