Bio
Randall Shreve is a multi-talented artist who has worn many hats: singer, songwriter, musician, and producer (not to mention the ubiquitous fedora!); but first and foremost, he is the quintessential entertainer. His sound, which is a mix of Cabaret and Blue Eyed Soul, keeps audiences riveted.
2006 was the year that changed everything for Randall. Prior to this, he played drums for several Grammy award-winning bands, produced and played on over fifty recordings, toured extensively in the U.S., Canada and Europe, and even found time to act in a movie starring Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. But in 2006 he found his true calling. He released his solo debut, the Cure for Yesterday, and the world was introduced to a very powerful singer and songwriter. Randall immediately began work on his sophomore project which would showcase his darker side and an increasing depth and honesty to his songwriting. In 2008, at Legacy Studios in New York, Randall Shreve recorded The Entertainer, which dives back into the Vaudeville era and captures the glamour, grit, and ambition of early Hollywood.
In 2009 Randall relocated to Fayetteville, Arkansas and formed his band Randall Shreve & The Sideshow. Shortly after, Randall began work on his third studio album, The Jester, his first full-band recording. The songwriting chops of Randall Shreve melded with the smelting rock and roll of the Sideshow gave this new project a gritty power that has made it a fan-favorite. The album was his darkest yet, a raw and glamorous rock and roll trip.
Randall Shreve & The Sideshow toured the country extensively for the next five years. In between tour dates, Randall recorded and released a solo project, Lovers, Lies, and Butcher Knives. Among the offerings were Randall's haunting cover of Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah"as well as his original "30 Pieces," long a crowd favorite at live performances, and finally recorded. In 2014 The Sideshow disbanded, as some of the band members decided that it was time to pursue other things. The band's many fans, self-titled "the Sideshow Freaks," mourned greatly.
Randall spent the next 6 months focusing on his solo career and recording the fourth and final album in his 4 album cycle. The Devil and The End is a beautiful wrap-up to the storyline that connected the other albums. This offering contains some of Randall's most overtly vaudevillian tunes to date, but also refuses to be labeled as such and defiantly jumps into other eras. The songs range from dark and sinister to playful, and the result is an album that is at the same time his darkest and yet most hope-filled work to-date.
As he wrapped up recording in spring of 2015, he was also quietly putting together a new backing band, The DeVilles. Both the new album and the band were well-received by the fan base, which had been anxiously waiting to see what would be next for Mr. Shreve.
Randall now splits his time between touring nationally as a solo act, and regionally with The DeVilles.
