A Note From The Artist
We (Maria Quiles
& Rory Cloud) tour the country with our two weathered guitars and a
killer microphone in an old VW Golf. The Golf is our third vehicle for
the job since 2012 thanks to the joys and mishaps of full-time road
life. Forrest VanGolf (that's the Golf's name) is a trooper though, and
we love his guts.
When we can, we bring along upright bassist
extraordinaire Oscar Westesson on our adventures. However, his bass does
not always get along with Forrest so we generally have to keep them
separated. The truth is, Forrest is a bit intimidated the the size of
the bass and is generally more comfortable with our standard-size
acoustic guitars and the occasional fiddle.
Maria writes most
of our lyrics, though Rory is always there when a line needs new vowels
or a chord needs more dissonance. There's also space when it needs to be
there. We like balance.
The best way to describe our sound is by sending you to our website (http://quilesandcloud.com/)
where you can listen to lots of it for free. You can also
purchase/download our first two albums throughout the online music
retail universe. For those that are unfamiliar, that would be the
universe of the iTunes, Amazons and their close but estranged relatives,
the Spotifys.
