Colours & Skeletons - PUNISHMENT
PUNISHMENT have established themselves as an alternative in the Toronto music scene that is sorely lacking in what a great rock show should be. Formed in 2008 by Juno award winning guitarist, Kevin Gale (ex Slik Toxic), the band came out of the corner swinging and quickly rose to the top of the Southern Ontario club scene and proved itself time and time again that prisoners would not be taken.
The release of their debut EP Beautiful Suffering in 2009 and the subsequent single Colours & Skeletons garnered them Terrestrial Radio airplay/rotation as well as numerous Internet and College stations throughout North America and proved to be a hard rock anthem that then and still now has the ability to send shivers up the proverbial spine.
After a spectacular string of shows, including capacity events at The Phoenix Concert Theatre, The Sound Academy in Toronto, they established themselves as one of the premier rock acts in the city, both headlining and opening shows for such great acts as Bif Naked/Rik Emmett/5440/The Ending/ The Respectables ,Sven Gali , John Corabi among others.
2010 brought about both personal and professional changes that proved to be too much for the members and the band took a hiatus to do some serious soul searching and rediscover what music really meant to each of them individually and hoped to return to the music scene with new vigor.
Fast forward to 2013the three original founders Vocalist Bradd Searl, Guitarist Kevin Gale and Drummer Karl Anderson decided the timing was right to continue what they had started and quickly enlisted the aid of long time bass player Mark Johnston who had worked on and off with Kevin, writing and recording in various side projects over the previous years. The chemistry was right and Mark proved to be the missing piece that completed the previously overwhelming puzzle.
Very quickly the four descended upon Beach Road Studios in Gods country near Goderich, Ontario to record two songs with Juno Award winning Producer Siegfried Meier, the first of which Southernbound was released to the public on the dawning of 2014.
With a new, more focused sound and attitude, the band is once again set to take on the world and prove that they are capable and worthy of the world stage that they so very much deserve.
