Eclectic, eccentric, and exceptionally talented, genre-hopping artist Psyclo went from being a self-proclaimed “music idiot” who found solace in anime in her childhood to a dynamic singer-songwriter as an adult.
Born in Shenyang, China, Psyclo – whose real name is Ming – considers music her therapy, using her experimental sound and poetic lyrics to work through her own complex feelings. From her previous release “friEND” which talks about heartbreak to her upcoming single “Watch Me” exploring themes of possessiveness, Psyclo’s music is both witty and wise. - Euphoria Magazine
Exploiting a hesitant rhythm to make the tension in her lyrics all the more tangible to listeners, it’s obvious from the jump that Psyclo has a specific goal with her new single “I’m Not Lovesick,” and pushing us onto the dancefloor is not it. She’s playing with cerebral componentry in this track, rejecting the popular model for surreal pop in favor of something slightly more gothic, and showing us a more reserved and tempting side of her personality that might not have been as evident in a more streamlined piece of material. Bio
Psyclo was born in China but determined to find her path and define herself on her terms; she moved alone to Los Angeles at seventeen. Film school seemed like the perfect way for Psyclo to uncover a lifelong passion - yet it only revealed further insight into how working with others could bring deeper self-knowledge. Music became an essential medium through which Psyclo could explore self understanding and express what she is about.
