Bio
Philadelphia Native Prince Dred has consistently left his mark on the Philadelphia Hip Hop and R&B scene. Playing the keys and singing with various bands over the years, starting as far back as the late 70’s, this producer/songwriter is still holding it down. In the late 80’s and early 90’s, Prince Dred, better known as KB Weal was a member of the rap group the Defenderz, with still close friend Parry P (Jazzy Jeff and the Corner Boyz, Philly 103.9, Director of A&R of Antra Music Group). The Defenderz were the first Motivational Spiritual Rap Group (like Gospel) in the country.
In Paris, Prince Dred found himself as an artist/producer. Creating with partner Victoire Auguste-Dormeil a production company and releasing Hip Hop and R&B artists to shake the slower and fragile French market. Also Prince Dred worked with many known French artists like Yannick, Layla Doriane, Sector A, Kim and many more. After spending 2 years in the Paris Hip Hop R&B scene, Prince Dred noticed the success of French House music. “I used to DJ all the time but never thought of it as my strength, seeing it more as a thing that I enjoyed doing for a little change every now and then.”
Prince Dred is the consummate DJ for the dance party. Since 1984, Dred has motivated parties in all genres of music, and finds the most comfort in Dance music. The summer of 2000 he toured the Cote d'Azur (French Riviera) promoting and launching a campaign for Champagne Pommery's "POP" champagne. From Jimmy Z (in Cannes and Monte Carlo), Big Ben's in Cassis, Palm Beach in Saint Tropez, various clubs in Paris, Montpelier, Marseilles, Avignon, Toulon, Nice, and Lyon, Prince Dred brings his live mix with vinyl and synth to blow up any club set.
