"Pointe Blank hits the mark on Truth Be Told (Generation Whatever)"

As a guy who gets to hear a lot of local music, It's an extra joy filled experience to hear a band with authenticity and a mission. Such is the case with the band Pointe Blank. A group comprised of 4 family members and a poor fellow who has to probably sit through endless squabbles! Three sisters, a brother and the bass player. That might be the undercover name when they hit the big time! All kidding a side, this band rocks! And they've got the right mix of alternative, pop, angst and thoughtful lyrics. Exhibits A and B would be the opening two songs, Taking A Stand and Truth Be Told. Right away you get the impression that the members of Pointe Blank are fed up with apathy. Fed up with a lukewarm church. Fed up with the media. And possibly a little riled up about the culture of death. On Generation Whatever (album subtitle), brother Chris lays into Generation X, as maybe they're realizing their life has little purpose or meaning. Maybe it's a question mark, rather than an X. Very impressive is the blend and harmony of sisters Nicole and Danielle who are a nice contrast to Chris. By the way, Jessica Sweet plays drums, and certainly gives the chics a good name when it comes to the skins. The album then bends and winds it's way through some praise and worship on True Love, I'll Rise and How Sweet It Is. All three of which direct us back to the calm and peace of Christ. The band has some issues to confront, but it's clear they've got the Source of strength in sight. Marching On makes another call to arms. The culture of death seems to be the target of Pointe Blank. This family has decided to get in the game and proclaim the Truth. Thank God for that! Show You is a song about grace. "We need His love so desperately, so why not let it be?" Why not? Here-here! The band has this tendency to vascillate between pure angst and pure love. It shows their passion for the message. It also illustrates how plugged in young people can be when they get a hold of the Gospel. All About You is my pick-hit single. A great praise tune, with a large hook and some fine musicianship. King of Day is a prayer for assistance. Nicole wants a deeper walk, a bigger step. "Calling on You just to help me through, what kind of day will it be, it's really up to me". That's maturity. And the theology understands that we have a role in God's work. Remind Me Of The Reason finds Nicole questioning stuff and feeling a little insecure. I love this concept, because so may of us think we have it all figured out. And just when we think we do, God steps in and shows us something more. Great song, and as I said earlier, thoughful lyrics. The album closes with the words and ideas of St. Augustine on Augustine's Song. A beautiful duet between brother Chris and sister Nicole as they turn Augustine's words into a wonderful psalm. And here is where the heart of PB is. It's in the hope of Christ. It's in the process of filling that God shaped hole. The creatures bowing to the Creator in awe. Musically this album uses a lot of synthy keyboards, jangly guitars and smooth percussion. PB is really a youth band with a mature heart. Their music may have found it's roots in the late '90's Christian alt-rock movement. Or it just may be the sound of 5 dedicated souls from Attleboro Massachusetts. Either way, Pointe Blank hits the target and makes God the center of their bull's eye. Call your youth group and then have them call Pointe Blank for a gig!

In addition to working with their music producer, Lang Bliss, from Diff'rent Wirld Productions, on this project, some of the members had the opportunity to work with Tom Jackson, and Tom Jackson Productions, a world renowned live performance producer based out of Nashville, TN. With a new appreciation and understanding for their live show, Pointe Blank continues to work hard with diligence and excellence, bringing their performance to a whole new level.
With plans to continue traveling throughout New England, playing at events ranging from Clubs to Festivals; like 'The Inside Out Soul Festival, in Gunstock, NH, and at Worldwide events such as World Youth Day, Australia, 2008, hosting over 800,000 youth; Pointe Blank is thrilled to hit the road again; see their fans; and ecstatic to meet new ones!

Through hardship, sickness and life experience, Pointe Blank accredits their growth to perseverance, determination and grace. Pointe Blank states,
"We give testimony to God, family, and each other; our hurts, our dreams, our pain, our joy. The music is testimony to where we've come from, who we are and what we strive to be.
