PeopleJam is a dance-rock-funk band from Tokyo seeking the next groove. Jik and Ken (also of DirtyMindArkestra) formed PeopleJam in 2005. Thom and Mzn joined in 2007 and Hrn in 2010. They’ve hosted a free style dance event called JAMSTAND! in 2006 and 2009 and are currently recording an album.

The first six songs on PeopleJam’s myspace follow the same kind of dance-funk formula. The vocals are all run through a vocoder and are highly reminiscent Eiffel 65's Europop. “Wake Up People” starts off this set with an energized track. Song’s like “Vaporized” and “Nirvana” are sure to make you dance. PeopleJam do drop the vocader in two tracks. “Licks” has more of a traditional indie-rock flair with wild vocals in the style of the telephones while the alternate version of “Dead Livestock” drops the funk backdrop for something a little more epic.

A CD-R for Wake Up People is available at their shows but you can download the Vaporized EP for free on their website.

Since mid-2005, a group of Japanese musicians whose interest is the pursuit of innovation to make unique sounds and with an air Groove as scientists began to experience serious undertaking this mission. In the present day, six years later, on May 11th launched its first musical production, a result of this inspirator whole process for our ears caught music to light all a night, similar to what exists in the night clubs and holiday weekends in Japan. Dirty Groove evokes a little electronic sound with touches of punk, rock, indie, jazz and funk, something that we would confuse some extent by the voice of JIK with songs by the Beastie Boys and some of The Horrors in the drums of Ken. But, we believe that we are greatly exaggerated. PeopleJam showed us how sound is renewed each day and adapts to these troubled times postmodern, from its conception on synthesizers and their instruments to their cover art has a patent that ensures that these musical scientists sure to generate something new to hear and produce in order to encourage our senses.

C. B. Thank you very much to attend us in this interview for Colombia and Latin America. Tell us, how did you meet to play together and to raise People Jam?

PeopleJam: JIK is a hard guy. He have been invited many many persons to band. And he have been fired them. So we are remnants. It’s easy to give pleasure to him. There are many degrees, we say to him. “You are funky!” You know. You are PeopleJam from today!

C. B. What are the differences between you with other bands or DJ in the electro sounds and aesthetical image?

P. J. We gathered five people who have been listening to the music of various genres and were formed. Therefore, when we make the tune, it be born that different from the first image.

C. B. What inspires People Jam topics to compose?

P. J. We love Fuji Rock Festival. And our favorite artists are Radiohead, Primal Scream. And favorite genres are Jazz, Funk, Soul, Techno, Alternative, and Rock. These give us inspiration. How to make our songs that fall into two methods? It is that JIK makes base of track or incubate into jam session. And we continue to work out our songs all we want.

C. B. How do you see Japan electro music scene around the world in the present day?

P. J. There is a lot of interesting music also in Japan: Cornelius, Zazen Boys, Yurayurateikoku, Sinichi Osawa, Towa Tei, Denki Groove, Boom Boom Satellites. However, even they are almost unnamed in the world. We become bands to which a person all over the world can listen, and a wonderful band in Japan wants allow to introduce it to you.

C. B. What bands or DJ’s of Asian music are the biggest influences?

P. J. Influences? My favorites are… Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, Blankey Jet City, Yurayurateikoku, Zazen Boys, Grapevine, moLo… For one thing, it is not possible to squeeze it by being fully too much.

C. B. Do you know a Latin American band or artist that you feel inspired? What?

P. J. We love CSS though it doesn’t understand whether Latin American band is good in the said recognition.



C. B. Tell us about your first album Dirty Groove in the process to produce and release this year in May 11th.

P. J. We recorded the first album spending two years. We are wishing that this album becomes a great disc that you have not met yet at the life. You can buy the album on iTunes store and other Distribution site, and get there, and listen to our tune. Moreover, there is music of the free download on our site, too and listen, please. And, please recommend it to the friend if you liked it. All tunes of our free download become other versions with the collection tune of the album.

C. B. What plans do you have this year?

P. J. We performed to the festival of Taiwan in this spring. We want to do the tour in Japan by the end of this year. And, we are hoping for the performance in foreign countries.
