Four minutes of semi-balladry at its best and a fantastic introduction - Entertainment Focus

With the market choked full of one-man-and-his-guitar types at the moment, Plunkett stands out by virtue of the clarity of his vocals and the natural charm and honesty of his music. Top stuff all round - Totally Vivid
What Patrick Plunkett has done differently, I think, is secretly injected his music with the songwriting tendencies of the americana singer-songwriters of yesteryear – the unassuming refrain, the understated bluesy guitar solo (which is sublime, by the way), and old-school, love-sick lyrics. Plus, Plunkett’s voice is just brilliant – he has the range of Mraz, but manages to hold onto more power in his wails. A fine singer-songwriter discovery - AAA

The new EP is a collection of 4 tracks kicking off with Hooked On Desire, a track you'd have got for free if you signed up to his mailing list (yes FREE!). It's a really nice start although I have to say I still kind of prefer the original recorded version of it.
Then however we hit the ground running with the very cool title track, Attracting Attention. It's just supremely produced; ever so, ever so slightly quicker in terms of playing speed than I recalled it being and possesses a mindblowingly good guitar solo in the middle of the song from Patrick's lead guitarist Ronan McCullough. It's seriously, seriously good!
Next up we hit Millionaire, a track which until I heard it recorded I was really impartial to but it really does work and the arrangement works well. The final track "Come Home Tonight" is a slow, very laid back rock ballad which again works amazingly well with Patrick's rounded and well polished vocals. - Mrrichmuk Blog

London is certainly not short of serious singer-songwriter types, so it's as well that Plunkett is pretty close to the top of the game. His AOR balladry has a pleasant country tinge to it, and he is very well served both by his backing musicians and by producer Tony White. The three songs included on New Beginnings could slot straight into the Radio Two playlist without anyone noticing - Sam Inglis - Sound On Sound

...a very appealing voice and he turns the loping 'Change' into an acoustic version of U2.... - Hotpress

Here is a pleasure you can enjoy without repercussion, no hangover cure needed I guess you could say. But that’s assuming the crowd aren’t booze hounds, even if they were Patrick Plunkett have the kind of sound that could soothe them easily. The blood that runs white hot is cooled to a pleasing temperature, a temperature that still manages to excite in a way that insights peace and love - Surface Unsigned
It was over a year ago that I first heard Patrick at a Zarathustra night at the 12 Bar, when he was a little more into the blues than he was on this occasion. “Millionaire” was in that vein, but “Dangerous Roads” was a very commercial ballad and “Come Home Tonight” was similar. “Sandra” rocked nicely and it was a pretty enjoyable set all in all - Audio Tart

In 2009 he reached the regional semi finals in the Surface Unsigned Competition and played to over 200 people at The Carling Academy in Islington
Patrick is currently building momentum around his name in London while touring in prestigious venues for unsigned songwriters elsewhere in the UK and Ireland. He aims to become a self-performing artist with regular country releases in the UK, Ireland and the US. His current release is seen as a stepping stone to help push him in that direction
