Paper Paulk is back, giving fans two for the price of one. The midwest rapper drops his Stay Committed EP and releases the video for "Push the Button," the intro off the project. "This that lifestyle music from me to you, to encourage and motivate anyone that's distracted from staying committed," Paulk says through email.
Stay Committed is only five songs and comes in roughly under 21 minutes. The only guest feature on the EP is Chases N. Cashe.
The video for "Push the Button" finds Paper rapping in an abandon warehouse and is reminiscent to the set up of BET hip-hop cyphers. While he raps, two artists also play the saxophone behind him. The Chase N Cashe-produced banger is a standout record off the EP and shows listeners why he's one of the better artists in Cleveland.
Stay Committed EP is the follow up to the 28-year-old rapper's Fresh Vibes Sixteen project that dropped in last year. Fresh Vibes Sixteen was a 14-track tape that was inspired by Boaz Yakin's 1994 film, Fresh and boasted Paulk's singes “260” and “Summertime Grind." - XXL

He also spent this past summer opening for Kap G on a 40-city tour across the United States. Now the rapper is back with Stay Committed, and a new video for the track “Push The Button.”

Sounds like: Hustler ballads.
Why you need to know him: Paper Paulk is a 27-year-old MC with clear influences from Jay Z and Nas. He makes hustler anthems that lean towards one common message: he has to make it and get as much money as possible. With a background in poetry, Paulk is able to articulate his thoughts quite well while adding his own flair. Things seemed to click for him last year with his Power LP and he expanded his sound with the Fresh Vibes Sixteen EP.

It's not just a huge look for Paulk to be on a song with an artist like Pusha, but it's also a prime opportunity for him to show fans that he has what it takes to hold his own with the best in the game. Over gritty production, Paulk spits a mean opening verse before diving into a simple, yet effective hook that serves its purpose in between the menacing rhymes from both artists. - Complex

The undeniable flavor that is MadeinTYO (and producer K Swisha’s) “Uber Everywhere” has made its way to down through E. 110 St. in Cleveland and onto Paper Paulk’s radar.
LeBron James and the Cavs may have brought the city a shiny, new trophy but the hustle doesn’t stop for the hungry rapper, which is the basis Paulk has carved out for his new freestyle.
“‘Uber Everywhere’ is a tour of where I come from, a tour of my hood, city and the everyday struggles that go along with it,” Paulk tells HipHopDX. - Hip Hop DX
Former HipHopDX Features Editor Andre Grant said in his “Defense Of The Struggle Rapper” editorial, “Out of all the things the Hip Hop web has vilified, the “struggle rapper” might be the least deserving of all that ridicule.” Before Kendrick Lamar became big enough for Barack Obama to sing his praises or Drake found himself making deals with Apple, they were artists without a significantly large fanbase attempting what seemed like the impossible. Hitting the top of the charts became a distant goal to making past one hundred streams of a song possibly made within the confines of their bedroom walls and gaining likes, re-post or anything else that would reach someone. Providing a weekly outlet for those getting their feet wet in the sometimes brutal sport of Hip Hop, allow us to give readers a look into tomorrow’s possibilities through “Up NeXt.” - Hip Hop DX
On the Cheri Coke-assisted “SummerTime Grind,” he offers his own unique take on the 1991 DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince classic, “Summertime,” as 2016 winds down. Since the release of the Power EP, Paulk has been prepping his follow-up project, Fresh Vibes Sixteen. - Hip Hop DX
If Paper Paulk could do anything about it, Winter 2K16 would never come, especially in the heart of his hometown of Cleveland, OH. (B-r-r-r, and we’re not talking a Gucci Mane ad-lib.)
During his recent DX Live interview, the ardent lyricist actually revealed that his new Fresh Vibe Sixteen mixtape was actually inspired by the 1994 Boaz Yakin-directed film Fresh, the street savvy, Hip Hop/hood flick that starred Samuel L. Jackson and Giancarlo Esposito well before they were billion dollar box office boys and Breaking Bad, respectively. (Two points for alliteration.) - Hip Hop Dx
If you’re looking for some new vibes to kick back to, you’re in luck. Having teased fans with the tracks, “260” and “Summertime Grind,” Paper Paulk has just dropped two new releases: Fresh Vibes Sixteen mixtape and the visual to a brand new single, “Vows”.
Inspired by the Boaz Yakin film, “Fresh” (1994), Paulk’s mixtape intricately weaves the movie’s sound bites and storylines with his own personal tales. It’s a “fresh” cross-genre spin on a throwback classic. - Bossip

Street Dreaming Vol. II
(self-released)
paperpaulk.com
Twenty-five-year-old local rapper Paper Paulk sold some 40,000 copies of last year's Street Dreaming Vol. I and undoubtedly hopes to duplicate the magic with this hour-long mixtape. The disc commences with a ballad of sorts that finds Paulk yelling out "street dreaming" over a dramatic piano riff. Paulk worked with a wide variety of different local producers and the production on the disc runs the gamut. Producer Mark Christian opts for something sparse on the percussion-heavy, shimmering "God Given." And he goes for something similar with "Black Diamond," a quiet tune that starts with a piano melody and soft vocals before turning up the volume. Guest vocalist Ebony James adds soulful vocals that offset Paulk's hard-hitting raps. He hiccups his way through the twitchy "Know Bout It," a tune that evokes the late, great Notorious B.I.G. This is an ambitious effort. Can't wait to see what the guy pulls off for his studio debut, which he says is in the works. - Cleveland Scene Mag - Jeff Niesel
After landing a spot on a mixtape by notable Cleveland DJ Steph Floss‘, and catching the influence of several Midwestern DJs and tastemakers, Paper Paulk is ready to push forward with his campaign, highlighted by the release of his new EP, Opera, which drops on February 19.
in case you haven’t heard his harrowing “Opera” single, you can listen to it here, and watch the brand new video for “Never Give In,” which is above. Paulk is a gritty emcee, and found influence in greats like Jay Z and Tupac, which is evidenced by his passionate delivery and his tenacious new music video. If you let Paulk tell it, “Decide what makes you happy, figure out what you love and fight for it. Never give up and Never give in!”

The time has come! I know you have seen me make a couple post to get you ready for the final product. I would like to present an amazing project that I’m proud to have played a part in, Paper Paulk’s “Street Dreaming.” - LebronJames.com
Cleveland’s own Paper Paulk has been building a nice steady buzz for himself over the past year or so thank to his Power EP & impressive breakout single with Pusha T “Deposit.” Looking to capitalize off his growing momentum, the Cleveland spitter decides to come through today and share another new mixtape for the fans called Fresh Vibes Sixteen.
Laced with 11 tracks, the project is inspired by the 1994 Boaz Yakin film “Fresh,” which intricately weaves the movie’s sound bites and storylines with Paulk’s own personal tales. Speaking on the project, Paper Paulk had the following to say about the tape & his hometown: “Growing up in Cleveland, I learned all about the struggle and the streets of a blue collar city. You don't get to choose how and where you grow up but you have the choice to prove you can be whatever it is you wanna be.”

Paper Paulk gets his first The DJBooth feature today, courtesy of his great work on his latest video Hustle On. Producer A. Smiff absolutely goes off with the old-school feel of organ and production that loops, reverses and carries on perfectly with Paulk’s flow. That being said written it doesn’t overshadow Paulk’s great lyrics, which speak about his struggles in the city, feelings on rap and why no one can tear him down. You can listen to Hustle On and many more street tales on Street Dreaming Vol. 1, out now. - djbooth.net
Paper Paulk has a very emotional delivery. The Cleveland rapper is able to express a lot through the tone of his voice, which can sometimes match the intensity of Meek Mill, and other times resemble the whispered wisdom of someone like Nas. It also helps that Paper can rap his ass off. His technical ability is impressive no doubt, but his words are also very memorable. Paulk seems to have an ear for production as well, which makes him the complete package when it comes to this competition, and force to be reckoned with.
