Bio
With their forthcoming album "The Quest for the 100th Monkey" Paperclip Scientists hosts a winding back-roads musical trip from Memphis to New Orleans to Brazil with many stops on the way. The direction of each song is powered by the lyrics, delivered by Adib Owens-Sabir with smooth, resonant conviction. Producer/musician Vince Johnston and co-writer/musician Joey Plunkett originally connected with Adib after teaching together at a performing arts camp in the Mississippi delta in June, 2008. Later that summer, Adib recorded vocals for a jazz project at Brudog Studios with Vince behind the board. These sessions led Vince and Joey to make new arrangements of original songs for Adib's voice, a process which immediately yielded some additional new songs. Adib began singing, Vince and Joey kept writing, and before long an album started taking shape with further musical contributions from Ryan Rogers, Bryan Beller, Daniel Karlish, Rufus Mapp, and Ky Johnston. Currently the album is in its final stages of production and members of the group have started performing the material live.
