Overnight

Comprised of four skilled multi-instrumentalists who have built an impressive list of credentials performing with Nas, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, and Gliss, the impending success of New York’s Overnight would be anything but. Every fan that they’ve won over with their propulsive, melodic rock anthems has been earned through their unwavering commitment to their craft. After ceding the spotlight to a number of established artists, all while sharpening the chops that make their tunes compelling, Overnight is ready for a well-deserved chance to be the center of attention in this year’s crop of alt-rock bands. “I Know” is an addictively hummable trip through the dirty New York City streets, set to surf-flavored guitar tones, menacing bass, and grandiose pop hooks.

Recommended if you like… Bloc Party, Nada Surf
Why we picked them: Jabbing, post-punk guitar and fuzzy, spoken word verses give way to a delicate, even pretty, indie pop chorus.

Overnight has found their sonic niche in the crowded New York music scene. They contain elements of 70's garage and 80's dance-punk with a smidgen of mid-nineties modern rock that might be enough to get them in the ears of a casual listener. While they've only been a band for a short while, this four piece has already gotten the attention of New York's most highly principled musical tastemakers. Coolfer Glenn and (Gothamist Arts & Events Editor) Jen Carlson have tapped them to play the inaugural Shake your Halo party at Fat Baby next Wednesday with Nepo and Bravo Silva. We're excited to check them out. - Gothamist

Bio
Overnight is a band of 4 that come from all over the U.S. and live in New York City. Each of us is a multi-instrumentalists and full-fledged artist in our own right. Individually we've played in groups as stylistically diverse as Lauryn Hill, Spacehog, Nas, Rye Coalition, Breech (members of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Brian Jonestown Massacre), and Gliss, among others. From out of our collective musical experience we've cultivated something entirely different. The sound we create together is lush, big and full of the electricity and life of the city we live in. We make a point of pushing the definitions and boundaries of rock, and never take the beaten path when a bolder move is possible.
The newly released album "These Days are Over" was over a year in the making, entirely self produced, and represents all the disparate elements and influences that each of us brings to the band. With a pallet of vintage synths, samplers, tape echoes, rare microphones and amplifiers, we set out to create a rich musical landscape with a singular statement.
See us live, by the record.
