Omega Dog has only been together for eight months, but the band has quickly played multiple shows around Des Moines. Their dedication to practice and songwriting has earned them shows at People’s Court, the Vaudeville Mews, El Bait Shoppe, the Longest Yard, A.K. O’Connors and the Briar Patch Festival.



Omega Dog’s music is “a psychedelic, musical multi-sensory experience,” says Jen Wiater, who plays keys, flute, djembe and provides vocals for the band. Other band members include Steve Pellow on bass, guitar, drums and vocals, Nick Loffredo on drums and Charlie Urie on guitar.

Each member’s unique musical background has allowed them to create music that is rich with layers of musical texture and emotion. They mostly play their own songs, but also do a few covers of musicians like The Grateful Dead, Sublime and Tom Petty. Omega Dog has already recorded their first album, for which they’ll have two record-release shows: December 11 at the Longest Yard at 9 p.m., and December 13 at El Bait Shoppe at 7 p.m.

In just over a year of excitence, Omega Dog is turning heads. In March the group won the SummerCamp Battle of the Bands at the Vaudeville Mews, Earning them a spot at the May 28th-30th Illinios outdoor music festival in front of about 10,000 fans.

... Rising local band, Omega Dog graced the stage second and continued the good vibes. The four piece (Now 5/6) tore through an electric set which included a few covers, Tom Pettys "Last Dance With Mary Jane" Bill Withers "Ain't No Sunshine". Every time I see this band they get better. They added a light show to there bag of tricks, a sensory overload of there swelling sound. ... - CityView
