Is it possible that a band can ever sound as big as the city they come from? The Los Angeles based two-man crew Nicky Davey, consisting of front man Nick Green, 25, and Dave Rosser, 24, think so. They aren’t trying to play louder than anyone else, just work harder and write the songs to prove it. Since 2008, Green a Los Angeles native and Rosser, originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, have been writing songs reminiscent of Steely Dan that are radio ready, and made to cruise down California’s Pacific Coast Highway. Green’s intricate vocals and great ear highlight the funky grooves and melodies laid down by Rosser. Green was classically trained by his father, a vocal coach, who worked with Michael Jackson, the Jacksons, Ozzy Osbourne, Thelma Houston and others. Rosser began playing guitar at age thirteen and was influenced by his father’s love for 70’s rock. He developed quickly and moved to Los Angeles at age twenty to pursue music professionally. Rosser has played bass and guitar on several albums, including Dub-Reggae legend Lee “Scratch” Perry’s album co-produced by Andrew W. K and nominated for “Best Reggae Album of the Year” in the 2009 Grammy’s, as well as Heavy D’s comeback record called “Vibes” which was also Grammy nominated in the same category that year. All the while, the duo has been creating a vast library of their own signature music. With influences from all genres, these two produce music that has something for everyone. The radio is their canvas, and they intend to paint all over it for years to come.
